Garage Sale Lamp and Back to Black

First off, I want to thank everyone for all of your kind comments about Lexi's room. She read each and every one of them and just beamed. She LOVES her room and is so glad we shared it with all of you.

This was a picture I took of the frame (which I painted the apple green for Joy's party) and a lamp I found at a garage sale. I paid a little more than I normally do for the lamp.....$12.00 but I absolutely loved it and had to have it.
Here is a close up of the shade....cute, cute!
Here is a little cabinet that we purchased in Canton, Texas about 8 years ago....yes, probably 8 years ago and it has never been painted. It has been at the end of the hall all that time. Now here is my beautiful spray painted cabinet all dressed up in black. It was hard to take a good picture in this long hallway but it looks fabulous when you look down that hallway now. At the moment the little green picture is sitting on it too. It just pops down there!
Notice Tangie thought she needed in this picture!
Here is an up close picture.....isn't it darling now?

Amazing what black paint can do! I love your black chest thingy, it looks great. And I also like the mirror sitting on top of it, helps to bounce the light in that long hallway. This is definitely a makeover where the after has huge impact.
Love the animal skin lamp! I'd paid $12 for it too *smiles*
Am I first poster or too long of a comment and missed it? hehehehe

Hi Darlene,
I have a very similar cabinet left over from the 'country deor' days! It is in my garage...and I'm going to do it white for the screened porch. Love yours in black! It looks so classy! And I would have fought you for the lamp! LOL

The black paint sure does change the look. It's wonderful. I like the framed picture on it. Those two colors (the black and green) are wonderful together.

take care,

I love how great that cabinet looks painted and I love the mirrored window above it. It is perfect in that spot along with the green picture frame and leopard lamp.

Darlene. I dont blame you I would have splurged on that lamp too ! Very chic indeed... I did think about Lexi the whole time I was making it. I wanted to put hot pink in it somewhere but I couldnt find the ribbon...wha??? lost ribbon! I want to try and get things mailed out today cause I have no idea what our weather is going to be like in the days ahead. If I were you I would add a dash of that hot pink that you have going on in her room on that tassel. Maybe just tie a ribbon knot up at the top of the ribbon where it hangs from. It would be sooo cute. Hope Miss Lexi loves her Miss Priss Tassel! Take care~ and Thank you...again and again!

Wow it is a big change with spray paint. I just got back from Wally World and bought about 6 cans of spray paint so I can have fun this weekend.
Love the lamp also! Yep worth the $12.00. Have a wonderful holiday weekend Darlene!

Love the black cabinet sooo much! I think we should start a black spray painters club! Our Motto: You could try but you cannot separate us from our black spray paint! (I'm pretty crazy about barn red spray paint too!)
Have a great weekend Darlene!
Love your finds!

Ooh, I love that cabinet. The black paint just makes it. I almost put some leopard print fabric on my ottoman.

Darlene, that cabinet looks fantastic!! And you used spray paint??? I'm always so worried to use spray paint on an actual piece of FURNITURE. lol I spy a Dollar Tree pumpkin on top, don't I? :o) hee hee The lamp is great too. Animal print isn't usually my thing, but lately I've taken a liking to it!

I really love the look of that cabinet. So many bloggers are spray painting furniture I can't even imagine the wonderful results. This week I spray painted a wooden frame and a silverplated candlestick that wasn't looking good.
I have a dresser I'd like to attempt to paint black too but I'm afraid I may mess it up.

Do you have any tips on spray painting furniture? Did you find you had any problems I should know about? Your cabinet has a little sheen to it now doesn't it. Its not really glossy or flat?
Helpful tips are needed. Thank you for sharing.

Have a lovely day
