More Fall....

What do you do on a dreary, rainy day?? You craft!! Oh, don't get me wrong I am lovin' it.....we needed rain in a desperate way. My plain Fall letters became fabulous Fall letters. I spray painted the sides of the letters with the color Brown Boots. I cut out my Fall letters from my scrapbook paper. I usually cut my letters a little smaller to let the color show around the sides but this time I just used spray adhesive and adhered the scrapbook paper to the letters. Once dry, I sanded the letters on the edges to cut the paper, making a smooth edge, and they fit the wooden letters exactly. I then watered down some dark brown paint and darkened the edges all around each letter. Then, I embellished them with some fall leaves and some leaf buttons. I found the leaf shaped buttons at Walmart and I just tied a piece of raffia through each one (be sure to click on the pictures to enlarge them) then hot glued them on.
These are in my kitchen area above those chalkboards I made. While I was looking at them I got the bright idea to tuck a couple of more leaves into the edges of the chalkboard....Cute?? I think so.
Here is a close up. I will probably put a couple of coats of Mod Podge on them to protect the paper and give them a harder finish.
Here is what I put in my two cloches at the moment....some bling pumpkins. They are quite sparkly. I also tied a big Fall leaf and a ribbon around the top of each one.

The letters look fantastic! I think next time I'm at the craft store I'll be looking for something like that....maybe even the letters to spell NOEL. I'm glad you got rain and were crafty. You are inspiring me :)

BTW I haven't forgotten you. I hope to get to the post office on Saturday.

take care,
Dawn

Hi Darlene,
You are really on a roll lately. I can't believe how many projects you are getting done. Lots of mine are on hold for now...but I did do some fall decorating yesterday.

Love you fall letters! The ways to use these letters are really endless aren't they?

I love your Fall letters, Darlene. You are so good about creating and decorating your home. I make lots of stuff to sell, but let my home slide in the process! Your cloches and candlesticks are so great, too! Enjoy your rainy day--we're getting it, too--right through to the weekend! So it should put me in the mood to go to the Craft Cave and create, but I just want to crawl back in bed. Have a great day! Dana

I love your chalkboards!

I've got all of my ribbon cut for my ribbon garland/swag. I just haven't had the time to get busy and assemble it yet. I'll have it done by Sunday night if it's the last thing I do.

Darlene you are on a fall roll. I love your letters and your pumpkins under glass. I have been doing some fall stuff too. I am limited but it's a start. I will take some photos soon. Oh yes, I am walking without help and doing so well. I even did laundry and bed making today. I am very happy with the recovery part of this surgery. I think I can drive next week. It will be three weeks. Happy girl, that's me. Pain is still an issue but time will take care of that.

Hugs, Jeanne

Hello Miz Darlene,
Look how amazing your letters turned out! And if I'm not mistaken doesn't your pumpkin paper match one of your fabrics on your ragamuffin garland? Too cute! I love those letters, you did a great job! Gonna miss you but hopefully I'll get to use the pc @ the hotel & maybe I'll be gone only half the projected time *smiles* Take care!!!

I just found your beautiful blog! My only dilemma now is what will I make first? Candy corn? Garland? Paper-covered Letters?

Consider my weekend booked. Love your blog!!

Ok Darlene, i really think you should write a book about all your ideas...they are amazing, and I would want a autographed copy of the book! How do you come up with these ideas? I am not that crafty....except for the tassels, but you are amazing! Blessings, Nancy

Darlene, Great project!

When I saw the first picture I thought that the letters you had were FAIL. Then I thought, "Well gee Darlene, couldn't you have come up with something a little more inspiring?" Then I saw the next picture and realized that I'm a total dork. :-)
