This is 5 1/2 in Kindergarten at her school's Fall Festival. We had to send a flannel adult shirt and they made them all into Scarecrows.
And this one at 6 1/2.
Lexi in 2006 at 7 1/2.
Last year at 8 1/ how the time flies!!
I hope every one has a safe, fun Halloween. I'll show you pictures of Lexi in her costume tomorrow. Happy Halloween!!!!!

Pumpkin Carving Time....

See all of these pumpkins? There are 9 of them, one is kind of hidden at the back. Guess how much I paid? Now don't hate me.......they were 25 cents each! I stopped by our local garden shop because they always have huge crates of them and we were going to carve them, and they are trying to get rid of them, so 25 cents each.......
Let the fun begin!
Lexi and her daddy carving away.
Here they are with their masterpieces. Lexi did the classic pumpkin face while Alan/daddy did a spooky house.
Aren't they scary?

Can You Stand More Halloween Stuff?

I saw these great "book" pumpkins that Wendy made here and Carrie made here and knew I had to get at least one made. So simple and I think they are just adorable.

I also saw on some one's blog (forgive me because I can't remember who) where there were lights in a bottle. I found this bottle and actually an old milk bottle at the antique/thrift store and just put the lights down into it. This is just in a little space right by my fridge. The other one (not shown) is in my kitchen window. They look fabulous at night. This first picture is with the flash and the second is without. I will definitely be doing this at Christmas with white/clear lights. I also saw some green bottles that I might get.....I think that would look really neat.

Last are my pumpkin people. I just think they are so cute and their faces light up. This first picture is with my flash and the second is without (sorry it is blurry, but you get the idea).

Oh, and by the way, ignore any dust you might have seen cause you know I couldn't put Twilight down and I have now started New Moon......

Have them link back to your blog to pick up their Halloween Treat (picture) and tell them to Boo their friends. (Then put the pic in your side bar so everyone knows that you've already been Boo-ed and to send the pic to someone else.

Awards and Photo Tag......

I was tagged for a photo tag called "fourth of fourth" by Holly from Holly's Haven and by Victoria from As Time Goes By. Here are the rules. Choose the fourth picture in one's fourth picture folder and describe it then choose four people to do the same. It is Lexi when she was a baby enjoying a snowfall at the same home where we still live.
My next award was from Wendy at The Shabby Nest. Thank you so much!
I'm supposed to add this text along with it...
“These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and befriends. They are not interested in prizes or self-aggrandizement. Our hope isthat when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships arepropagated. Please give more attention to these writers! Deliver this award toeight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written textinto the body of their award.”
Finally, I must thank Julie at Juju and Family for this great tag. It is to list three things I love about myself.
1. I am a great friend - very loyal and caring.
2. I always try to do and be the best I can be.
3. I have so much fun and enjoy crafting and creating.

Thank you every one that passed these along to me....they all have FABULOUS blogs and I hope you will go visit them. As I have done the past few times, if you come by to see me please feel free to take any or all of these tags and awards.

Put~zing and Cooking....

I just had to use Ramona's word put~zing.....isn't it the perfect word? I felt like it was, for this post. I was just put~zing around the house the other day and decided to try my hand at painting on fabric. Ramona does this beautifully, and in a prior post (somewhere back along the way) she said all you had to do was put Textile Medium in your paint and paint away. So, I went and bought a bottle of that, along with a 99 cent bandana, and here is what I ended up with.
I thought it turned out pretty well. This was all free-handed. I just decided to paint some pumpkins. Not bad for a day of put~zing....cha cha cha (that is another one of her words I just love). So, what do you think of them?
Another blog I enjoy is Made With Love and Glue.....doesn't that just say it all?!? Anyway, Rachel had posted a meatloaf recipe her family loves, and with our weather very chilly right now, we just had to try it. Guess is DELICIOUS. Go here and try it for yourself. Oh, and I absolutely could not capture the picture of the meatloaf the way she did....when you see her picture you are gonna go ~ ooh la la ~ I must try it!!! go see.....
Hope every one has a fabulous, fun weekend!!

Tags and Awards.....

First, I was tagged by Carrie at Carrie's Little World and Daphine at Just Stuff for a fun book tag. Grab the nearest book. Open the book to page 56. Find the 5th sentence. Post the text of the next two to five sentences in your journal/blog along with these instructions.
Don't dig for your favorite book, the cool book, or the intellectual one: pick the closest. Tag five other people to do the same.

She'd wanted a good look at him, a better look than the one she'd caught the day before when he'd stood in the window looking like the brooding and bitter hero of some gothic novel.
He was good-looking enough for the part, she decided, but up close he seemed more sad than bitter.
Too bad really. Bitter was more her style.
He'd handled himself, she'd give him that.
Rolled with the insult-that asshole Bing- said his piece and after a little hitch, moved on.
This will be an older book because I bought it from the library when they were selling off their old books. I'll tell you at the end of this long post what it is.
The next award was from Meghan at Meghans Mindless Muttering. It says to list 6 things I value and 6 things I don't and pass it on.

  1. family
  2. friends
  3. faith
  4. teachers
  5. my home
  6. health

  1. liars
  2. litterbugs
  3. rudeness
  4. tailgaters
  5. abuse or cruelty
  6. stress

The next award, Kreativ Blogger, was from Jenni at Nest to Keep. It says to list 6 things about yourself.

  1. I played the cello in the orchestra in school.
  2. I know how to square dance. I learned when my parents square danced and I got dragged all around to the dances. It truly used to be a huge party every Saturday night.
  3. I was bribed with a nickel at age 5 to learn how to water ski.
  4. I got my ears pierced at the age of 8 after tons of begging. My mom had to get hers pierced first to see what it was like.
  5. I have worn contacts since I was in the 5th grade. I absolutely hated my glasses and talked my mom into contacts.
  6. I am hooked on Desperate Housewives.

The next award is from Brandee at The Berry's Patch and she gave me the Blogging Friends Forever card. I'm telling you we have been friends since the very start of my blog. She came and gave me a sweet comment and we just feel like we have been friends forever. Thank you so much Brandee.
Last, but not least, is this beautiful fabulous fall decor award I received from Sue at The Cotton Patch. She is one of my newer blogging friends and I just love her blog and she comes over and visits me and leaves me the nicest comments.

Sorry I got so far behind on my awards and tags. I will do better in the future. I truly appreciate all of you that give me awards and tags and I LOVE all of your blogs. I am going to leave these for anyone to take. If I visit you, please come by and take any or all of the awards. Thank you so much everyone! Also, if you have given me an award in the last couple of weeks and it is not here please let me know. It seems like I have left one of them out......

One more thing......the book from the book tag is Northern Lights by Nora Roberts. I have not started it yet, but it looks good.

Remember to enter my giveaway here. I'll be drawing tonight and post it tomorrow!

A Frickin' Elephant!

This is an e-mail joke I received today and loved it!!
Hooked on Phonics:

The five-year old students are learning to read.
Yesterday, one of them pointed at a picture in a zoo book and said, 'Look at this! It's a frickin' elephant!'I took a deep breath, then asked...'What did you call it? It's a frickin' elephant! It says so on the picture!'
And so it does...

' A f r i c a n Elephant '
Hooked on phonics! Ain't it wonderful?
Now that's funny, I don't care who you are!..hehehe

Don't forget to go here and enter my giveaway....I'll announce the winner on Thursday!

Goodie Bags.....

While my parents were here visiting, my mom mentioned she was going to be having an employee meeting when she got back home, and would like some little gifts for the attendees. We came up with these little gift bags.
We filled them with various candy and put a tube of Chocolate covered Sunflower Seeds in each. They are delicious. We found them at Walgreens and the manager there said they get them for each holiday in different colors. The Christmas ones in red and green would make great stocking stuffers.
We tied them up and added a little tag that says "No tricks, Just Treats!!!" They turned out so cute and mom said everyone LOVED them. I am going to make some more for Lexi's teacher and special activities teachers. Remember, you can always enlarge my pictures for a better look.
Guess what Monday will be???? My 100th post so stop back by to enter a giveaway. Hope you all have a fabulous weekend.
