Went to a Craft Show.....

......this last weekend and it was really lame :( We haven't been to this craft show in probably 8 years because it was so small, and this year I thought let's go cause it is bound to be better. Nope. Really there were maybe about 10 booths, a few outside and a few inside of a small building. This area had crosses, jewelry and some candles.
They had an Old Time Photo trailer.
A tent with some pictures and just "stuff".
I thought this was the cutest tent. They had a bunch of cuties and can you believe it....I didn't buy anything.
Lexi decided to get her face painted while we were there. The only good thing about this craft show was that it was held at Turner Falls Park which is a gorgeous park in Oklahoma. I'll show you some pictures from around the park tomorrow.

Hi Darlene,
We are having an arts festival in town this weekend. And it has floundered...seems like people just don't get out to these like they used to! Or maybe there are so many that the vendors go to bigger festivals!

That is another great picture of Lexi...but all of them have been great! She is a beauty!

We have a craft fair very close to our house every summer. I stopped going to it because it was getting harder and harder to find things I liked. This weekend there is a seaside festival I hope to go to.

I'm glad Lexi enjoyed the day. Face painting is always fun.

take care,
Dawn

Too bad you didn't find anything you couldn't live without.
Better luck next time.

Lexi's a cutie.

Good morning Darlene, I read your post this morning, you are SO FUNNY. Now I am wondering what to do with toilet paper rolls....makes me feel like it is some kind of challenge. I will go to work on it and see if there is anything of value that would be cute to make. Otherwise baby you will have to throw those puppies away! I mailed your little surprise yesterday, actually hubby did...hope you like it!
Blessings,
Debbie
PS...hmmmm-toilet paper apothecary jars...toilet paper napkin rings...little people...?

I haven't been to an arts & crafts sale in years. I think I'll check out some churches & schools that will be having fairs in the next few weeks. At least you had a beautiful place to take pictures. Turner Falls is very nice, we always took the kids there for an afternoon of swimming when we were at Falls Creek youth camp.

I would have bought one of those Santas:)

My kids would have found something, they feel they have to ask for something every show we go to!

Good morning Darlene. You are right, this swap was so much fun. Linda made so many things which made it so special.

Your swap meet looks like fun. What? You didn't buy anything? Now that is power.

Hugs...Jeanne

I am glad that she at least got her face painted! *smiles*

I have never been to a craft show. But that maybe because they do not have any around here to go too.

Sadly, the poor economy has trickled down to the craft fairs. All our "disposable" income that went to fun things like arts and crafts now goes to buy gas and groceries. :(

LOL...I burst out laughing when you said the craft show was lame. Been to a few like that. Happy Wednesday ~ Lynn

That booth you pointed out, unfortunately, appears to be filled with "imported wholesale" items. THAT is what has killed our craft shows. They advertise them as "craft" then allow vendors to haul in booth fulls of stuff-junk they don't make. I do one show where there is no market junk allowed and we sell like crazy there. Our customers know the items are all handmade, plus the promoters "jury" the vendors--they are selective as to the types of handfashioned items are in the sale. That effort has kept it a good sale when most others have gone down hill. Yes, I am on my soapbox!!! Don't hurt me, Darlene. It just makes me so crazy--especially since I am getting ready for a sale this weekend. I'm tired and cranky!!!
Dana PS I'm glad you liked my "goodies" from the Vintage Swap!!!

I haven't had a lot of luck finding stuff at craft shows, better luck at dumpster diving here (: he he. Wait till I show you what I found? Not sure what to do with it and it is broke in one area, but it is so pretty.

Aww, I'm sorry it wasn't good. At least Lexi got her face painted. Made her even cuter, as if that was possible. : )

I'm sorry it was a dud. That's always irritating when you're in the mood to see some good crafts to copy. :)

I really don't like lame craft shows...My mom and I went to one that was like this when I went to Spokane last time~ It's funny that the one you went to hasn't changed in 8 years! I'm surprised they can get anyone to sign up to sell anything!
I hope your next craft show is better!

Thanks for stopping by my blog a few times! You daughter is very pretty and what a fast runner...good for her.
Hey I lived in Oklahoma two times...Ft. Sill, Lawton. Once in elementarty school and then again in High School. In elementary I remember we would sing the National Anthem and the state song every day. So to this day I know all the words to Oklahoma!
Looks like you really enjoyed your 73 and windy day yesterday. Fall is fun.

I LOVE craft shows!!! Whenever there are shows, I am there. I always finding myself buying candles and teacher gifts.. Love the face painting!

Gosh, I hate lame craft shows. I am pretty picky about which craft shows I go to. Some of them has really gotten so bad, I do feel your pain. Heck, I am even picky about flea markets at times.

Lexie is such a beautiful girl!
I have been meaning to say that and I am glad I did!

It's too bad that the fair was a disappointment. But you showed great self control passing up the cute stuff in the one booth. You deserve chocolate for that! Have a wonderful day tomorrow!
