Fallin' Around on the Porch

I've shared the inside of my home and now here is our front porch. Please excuse the bare concrete....we had that outdoor carpet and it was nasty, so it was pulled up and nothing has been put back down yet.

How neat is this texture-y pumpkin?? It is really big too. (To answer some of your questions about this big pumpkin, YES it is real.)
None of my mums are in their full blooming glory yet. I purposely picked them that way. I want it to be into October before the spectacular show of blooms. I'll show ya pictures when it happens.
Oh, how do you like my stone goose standing guard?? I think I should tie a big Fall bow around his neck.

Bling My Boo..

I did a fun little project this weekend of "blinging" my BOO! I spray painted my letters black then mod-podged scrapbook paper on them. After that I sanded them and put another couple of mod-podge coatings on top. Then, I used some black eyelash trim and also added some ring spiders. I cut off the ring part and just hot glued them down. Then for a little bling, I added a clear gem to their tail (? I don't think on a spider it is called a tail?) section. Enlarge the pictures for a better look. Anyway, easy and I think they turned out pretty cute.

Be sure to visit Lemon Annie as she is having a Fall link-a-thon. Stop by and link so we can see your Fall decorations inside and out!

They are Still Visiting....

Our little hummingbird friends are still visiting, but I know they will be flying on soon. I had always heard to take down your feeders, as leaving them up would encourage them to stay. Hummingbirds migrate in response to the decreasing length of daylight. The Oklahoma information I found was to keep up your feeders for a couple of weeks after you have seen the last hummer, in case any stragglers come through. They'll certainly appreciate the food when natural resources are low.

Our feeders are still up, but I'm taking this moment to say "bye my little feathered friends", I'll see you again in April.
Hope you all have a wonderful Sunday.

Some Fall Around Our Home...

I thought I would show you some more of my Fall decorations around my living room (with a couple of Halloween snuck in). Here is my sofa table. We found this shelf top out in the garage and decided to put it on top of this. I want to paint both of these pieces black eventually.
This grapevine pumpkins was from Robin at The Robin's Nest and is beautiful when lit up. A big pumpkin on my metal painted bucket and a tassel from Susie at Bienvenue. Remember, if you need an adorable tassel for anything visit her here.

This is on top of my old little hutch.
The beads in the apothecary jars are from Pier 1. They are glass beads with acorns and in the other jar are glass beads with pumpkins. Each box was $6.00.
Here is a Halloween pumpkin man that snuck in to meet Mr. Scarecrow.
I LOVE this huge container filled to the brim with pumpkins, gourds and pine cones.....all tied up with a big pretty ribbon.
Hope you enjoyed a look around at my Fall decorations. I will add my Halloween to this next week. Hope you all have a fabulous weekend.

The Solar System.....

We had a note sent home last week for our first, at home, 4th grade project.....we had to build a Solar System. You could use a kit, poster board, shadowbox or whatever you wanted. I was absolutely stressing over this project and was in Hobby Lobby one day, (imagine that!!) when I ran into a friend that told me Hobby Lobby sold Solar Systems....YEA!!! We go trooping off to find them, get to the area, and not a Solar System to be found....boo!!! I knew I had to go pick up Lexi's consignment clothes that had not sold (last Sunday) and the area I had to go to had a Michael's, I was keeping my fingers crossed. They had them.....YEA!!!
It really was a fun little project. This kit had the colored balls and the wire and gave complete, precise instructions of what to do.
The only thing extra that we did was write down the names of the planets and hot glue them on each planet. It turned out great. Here is our finished Solar System.
The kids are also partnered in class and each have a planet that they are researching on the computer, and making a report on. Lexi and her partner have Venus. She has already come home telling me many facts about Venus. It is so much fun to see her, having fun, learning all about her planet.

I Have Cherrylicious Adoration!!!

I just knew that title would get your attention and most of you know exactly who I am talking about. Well, Mrs. Cherrylicious of Cherry's Jubilee creates the most amazing things. I always look forward to her posts because I know I will just LOVE whatever it is. You all have seen her adorable pumpkin man by now or if you haven't look here. I decided to copy flatter her by making a scarecrow man. Well, what do you think? I think he is wonderful and was so much fun to do.....you know the pumpkin man is next......lol

See the crow in his hat?
Here is the next thing I thought I needed to copy....errr flatter her with. Remember this post right here?
Here is mine. I didn't water my paint down enough when I went to distress and age it so I ended up kind of doing the whole thing, but overall, I thought it turned out pretty well. You know the pictures make the screw-ups much more obvious than they really are.
Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you Cherry for all of the wonderful projects you do and share with us. You inspire me every time I look at your beautiful blog.

I've Been Tagged Again....

I have been tagged by three of my blogger friends within the last few days and they are Kim of The Hancock Family, Robin of The Robin's Nest, and Alaura of The Cottage Rose. These are all great blogging friends and I encourage you to visit their blogs if you do not already do so. I am to list six random things about me. Here they are:

  1. I could shop every day! Seriously, not grocery shop but any other kind of shop.

  2. At my very part-time job I wear capris, tees and flip flops.

  3. I have owned a poodle almost all of my life.

  4. I LOVE vegetables and many times get a vegetable plate at restaurants when we go out to eat.

  5. I have some kind of fascination with cookbooks (and have a lot) but I hate to cook....go figure!

  6. I am 13 years older than my only other sibling, my brother (same parents) and he was 5 years old at my wedding.

Now here are the rules:

  1. Link to the person who tagged you.

  2. Post the rules on your blog.

  3. Write 6 random things about yourself.

  4. Tag 6 people at the end of your post and link to them.

So I am going to tag:

A Kohl's Bargain...

The other day when we went to get Lexi's pointe shoes we had enough time to make a trip to Kohl's. I got these two little tea light holders for a steal great price. They have a pumpkin and some acorns in them for the Fall season and I have them in my kitchen window. Also there is my little perpetual calendar...I just love it.
The normal price on these tea light holders was $19.99.....I can't believe they sold any for that price. They are not very big at all. Lucky me, I got them for the bargain price of $1.99.

A Couple of Giveaway Wins.....

Getting a package in the mail is soooo exciting especially when you have won some giveaways! The first one was from Dawn at Dawn's Daybreak. This was the first giveaway I have ever won and I was so excited.
Look at this beautiful tissue paper.......
I won her market bag that she knitted herself!!! Can you believe it DAWN MADE this!!! How talented is she!?!!
Also included was a little something extra.....some DAWN...how cute is that!!!?! Thank you so much Dawn and I just LOVE it and can't wait to use it.
Then a day or so later I won AGAIN....oh my gosh!!! This giveaway was from Diane from A Picture is Worth 1,000 Words. I couldn't believe my luck and couldn't wait to see what I won. My box came in the mail....as I said that is exciting itself......
Look at the fabulous goodies....I just know Diane picked them out especially for me. Seriously, they are just perfect. A magnolia scented candle...it truly smells heavenly, some Southern Comfort Praline Pecans, some adorable decorative towels with some sparkle on them (these will only be used in my decorating) and a fabulous iron birdie holder ( will hold candles, nests, and right now a pumpkin). It is hard to see the birdie holder but believe me it is CUTE!!
Here is another picture of it holding a big Fall leaf and a bling pumpkin. It is quite at home right now among my Fall decorations. We are still working on the pecans (they are very delicious and rich) and we have burned the candle a couple of times...love it! The little towels will come out in the Spring. Thank you so much Diane for these lovely gifts....I truly LOVE them.

Thrifting Fun...

I stopped by my little thrift store the other day, the one I call "Junque" and here are my finds......
Pretty plates and crystal candle holders....these are to make some more "homemade" cloches.
I think the pattern is so pretty and delicate and will be beautiful under a cloche with some shells or summery items. Look at all of these!!! I think I will probably paint one more black and the rest will probably be white (you know already thinking ahead). And I just fell in love with the Welcome sign.
Here is a close up of the sign. It has been put away until after all the holidays. Now the Welcome sign was a little pricey for that store but I still only paid $4.23 for everything. I'll take a bargain like that any day!

A Huge Children's Consignment Sale

I wanted to share with everyone a fabulous consignment sale that you might have in your area. If you have never been you might want to change your mind after I show you all of this. Twice a year my friend, Renee, and I go and volunteer at this sale and shop it. We have so much fun and find so many bargains. It is called Just Between Friends and you can find out more about it here.

Books galore - bins and bins
Toys, cribs
One of the two attached outside tents with strollers, outdoor push toys...just all kinds of things....
Bassinets, electronics, tables of toys...
Just look at all the stuff....anything you want for a child.
I believe that was the rack in the back of maternity clothes and bins of accessories, sleepers, undergarments, etc......

There are racks upon racks of clothes, all double hanging (top & bottom) for every size, girls and boys up to size 14/16. There is a whole room of girls and a whole room of boys clothes.
Here we are with our working aprons on. I was checking in clothes and scanning them for stains, correct on the hanger, right barcoding, pinned together if multiple pieces. Renee was working on the racks. We volunteered for 6 hours yesterday.
We use a laundry basket to shop with. You are going through the racks pulling out clothes tossing them into the basket. Then we sit down and go through them thoroughly and again check for stains and if we really want that. We have tons of fun. I was a long day though. We left at 7:15 a.m. and didn't get home until 10:30 p.m. This sale is so big in the area that this year they added a whole other building that was just as full as this one. So, we not only shopped at the one we worked at but also at the other building.....whew.....

Here is my laundry basket full......after I get all these washed, Lexi will have a bunch of "new" clothes. All in GREAT condition and cute!!! I also got her some books I thought she would enjoy.
