You can see that it has and Lexi has been thrilled!! She planted the seeds here and this week look at them. She also got her hair cut shorter again. Shoulder length is the shortest I will let her go so that she can still put it up in a ponytail.
A visitor should be arriving in Oklahoma this weekend. I hope to show you on Monday who it is. Have a fabulous weekend!♥
On Monday my shopping friend went with me to do what we LOVE to do....SHOP! There is a wonderful children's consignment sale (in a previous post here) that we go to in the Spring and then in the Fall. We went to the one in Oklahoma City on Monday and here is what I found for Lexi and several of them still have the new tags on them. She still has a bunch of summer clothes that fit but I always have to get a few more. I also got all these books that look like ones she will like. I will check to see if they are accelerated reader books, and if they are she will be able to test on them at school. If they aren't they will be summer reading books. Gotta keep her reading whether she likes it or not. Then we went on to Edmond, Oklahoma to a great children's resale shop called The Children's Orchard. I got a few more things while we were there. I also found out that Stacey from Poofing the Pillowslives in that area. We are going to meet next time I go up there. How exciting!!! I also bought this Gap dress which is new with tags at the resale shop. I paid the most for it at $14.99 which to me is still a great deal. Lexi LOVES everything and can't wait to start wearing all her "new" summer clothes. Stay tuned tomorrow for a peek at the seeds Lexi planted. We will see if they are doing anything or if the kit was a waste of money. Have a great Thursday!
I squealed when I received my box in the mail from the "For the Love of Birds" swap. My partner was Kimberly at Busy Being a Fabulous Mom. I have made a great new friend and here is what she sent me. See how pretty it all looked. A couple of little wrapped goodies.....let's see what they are. Here are all the cuties. First off a sweet card. I also received a wire bird tea light holder with sunflower scented candles (they smell wonderful!) , a beautiful egg ornament, a birdie cookie press, Martha Steward magazine and candy. Also, they sent Lexi some egg bubble gum....she grabbed it out before I could even get a picture of it. Also, last but not least this initial magnet. It is covered in material and so cute. Thank you so much Kimberly for all the fun goodies. I will be putting them throughout my home in my decorations. Thank you so much Kimberly....I LOVE it all! I also want to thank Lori for hosting this fun swap....she did a great job.♥ Be sure to stop by Kimberly's to see what I sent her in the swap. Also, I will be gone with a friend shopping all day today. I'll get around to everyone tomorrow. Hope you all have a GREAT Monday.
Update: Thank you to The Simple Gatherer for letting me know it is a Luna moth. Here is more information about it. I knew someone out there would know!!
I think this is some kind of moth but I am not sure. It is on the back porch by the light (be sure to click on it to enlarge and see the detail and colors). It is about fist sized so quite large. Isn't it neat? Do any of you know what it is. Whatever it is, it is really pretty so it can hang out there as long as it likes. Have a great weekend!
Well, I am a bit late joining Rhoda's Spring Fluffing Partybut here I am now. I've gotten some of my things out and about. Some of the cloches and bunnies still need bows but I hope you enjoy the pictures.
Be sure to stop by Rhoda at Southern Hospitalityand visit all of the other participants. There are so many cute decorations and I am off to visit now. Have a great Thursday!
Yesterday was an absolutely GORGEOUS day in the mid 80's. Lexi and I had some errands to run and then we stopped by Lowes. She saw this children's grow kit and had to have it. Look at the concentration on her face. She first had to put these little soil pellets into the pots and water them. She had to wait five minutes and then start pressing the seeds into each pot. The seeds are two different types of Zinnia. She had to press about six seeds into each pot and water again. Then she had to put the little greenhouse cover back on and place in a sunny spot. She is supposed to water each day and turn the greenhouse so the flowers grow straight. We will show you when she has beautiful flowers. Hope you all are having a GREAT Wednesday!
I thought I would show you the five cats I am feeding while our neighbors are out of town. They went to San Antonio for a few days for Spring Break. Two of the kitties are in their laundry room and they are "teen" cats. Not full grown but not kittens. Debbie (the owner) works part time at Wal-mart while her children are in school and these two were dumped in the garden center. She brought them home and had them fixed. They both usually just hide and hiss when I come into the laundry room but this one came out and actually let me pet it (I don't even know if they are male or females) for a minute before it hissed and hid again. Here is the other one hiding behind the dryer. It won't let me get near it and stays hidden while I am getting their food ready and scooping the litter box.
These three are outside cats. Aren't they beautiful?!? They are all fixed and just stay right around their home.
Here is one more picture. The darker cat on the far right is Mama kitty and is the mother of all three of the cats in the previous picture. She came across the street with me when I went to feed the cats. You see she is basically our outdoor cat. You can read the story about her here.
Hope you have a great St. Patrick's Day anda great Tuesday. We are supposed to get into the 80's today. WOOHOO!!
Oh, I just love the gentle, melodic sound of wind chimes. We have three of them around our home that have a deep wonderful sound. Yesterday, we had beautiful weather with the wind gently blowing. I had the windows open and listened to the wind chime sound all day long. This one is on our back deck and I believe was the first one we purchased. This next one is right by the front door. It is a bit smaller than the other two but still has that deep pretty tone to it. This last one is also in the front, at the corner of the house. My parents gave this one to us for Christmas. See the clear orbs in it? They are solar powered lights so at night they light up. It is beautiful and also has a beautiful sound. Hope you all are having a great Monday. It is Spring Break here and I hope the weather is beautiful all week long. We aren't going anywhere, just hanging out and relaxing. I am also taking care of five cats across the street (at their home). Hope that goes well. I'll try to get a picture of all of them later this week.
Happy Birthday to my beautiful Lexi. After infertility issues and never thinking we would have our own child, Lexi was born one month before Alan & my 19th wedding anniversary. We waited a long time to have her, but boy was she worth the wait!!!
March 2009, 10 years old
Lexi had a private skating party last Sunday. This is on the way to the party.
In the middle of the rink getting ready to sing Happy Birthday to Lexi. After singing Happy Birthday they did the Hokey Pokey. After that they skated, did more games, ate cupcakes and opened presents.
After the skating party we came home, along with Nana and Poppy, and gave her our gifts.
Well, here it is the recipe for the Mexican Lasagna. The only difference was that we used ground beef, and the Taste of Home Cooking School demonstrated with ground beef also. It was very tasty and we put a dollup of sour cream on top along with some salsa. Click on the recipe to enlarge it and hope you enjoy it. We will definitely make this again!♥ Hope you are having a GREAT Thursday!
I wanted to thank Michelle at It's Just What I Dofor drawing my name in her giveaway. The giveaway was a subscription to Fitness Magazine and I just received my first issue....WOOHOO. I am hoping this magazine will help motivate me to get back in better shape. I have gained too much weight and need to start working on taking it off!!! Thanks so much Michelle for drawing my name. Hope you all are having a great Wednesday and I promise as soon as hubby installs our scanner (hopefully soon, fingers crossed), I'll have a copy of that delicious recipe I promised.
Darn it, this was supposed to be my Monday post but I accidentally hit publish so here it is.... On Thursday night my dad and I went to A Taste of Home Cooking School.
My dad loves to cook and I try so we decided to go and had a blast. These are the bags they gave away at the door. There were several pastel colors. This is mine. This is what the bag was filled with. Lots of GREAT stuff!
This is an overview of the stage area. The culinary specialist's name was Jamie Dunn and she was excellent. Cooked away and was hilarious!
They gave away a lot of door prizes and also gave away the meals that were cooked. Of course my dad or I didn't win anything....boohoo. But we had a lot of fun. I'll be gone most of the day Monday but I'll visit everyone on Tuesday. Oh, and when we get our scanner hooked back up my dad made us Mexican Lasagna that was demonstrated....oh, it was fabulous! I hope to show you the recipe later this week.
