Computer and Feb. Tornado Update....

Just to let you know my home computer is going into the shop today. I hope it is a quick fix so I can get back to visiting everyone. I will use my hubby's laptop as I can cause I miss all of you.

Also, quite a few of you have asked how everything is going after the tornado that hit us on February 10. Some of the facts are that it was an EF4 tornado with winds in our area at approx. 165 miles per hour. Eight people ended up being killed (not 9 as originally reported) in our area from the tornado and 118 homes and/or structures were demolished. I have also unofficially heard that 3 people are still missing. A lot of devastation in a small area. Clean up is going well and there have been many people helping and working in our town. I have been sent a youtube video and it brings tears to my eyes when I watch it. It is still hard to believe it was sooooo close. We are in walking distance to two of the homes that were destroyed. Click here to see this awesome video.

Good morning Darlene! I'm a new follower and fairly new to blogging. I had no idea you were so close to this catastrophe! I will certainly be praying for your community! God Bless! Lauralu :)

Tornado destruction is much like hurricane destruction. In fact, much of the destruction blamed on hurricanes is actually from tornadoes inside them. I'm glad that you and yours are safe. It just seems unfair that you should have computer trouble too!

There must be something "going round", my computer is acting terminally ill, too. It is being contrary with my photos and doesn't want to talk to the printer.
Tornadoes scare the bejabbers outta me; I'd have to live in a storm shelter if I were any further north!

I hope that your computer is up and running again soon. Nice that you have hubby's to hop on now and then when he is not using it.

I watched the video with tears runnin' down my face. God Bless all the people who come to help. When we had our last two bad tornadoes, people came as far away as the west coast! Just to help clean up the mess!
I am so glad you are able to use your husbands computer, hopefully it won't take them long to fix yours.
Our thoughts and prayers are with ya'll.

You were sooo lucky. I can't even imagine winds of that nature and force. Very scarey and so is the devastation shown in the video.
I hope the rest of the year will bring on only good weather and nothing catastrophic like that one.

Your weekend Mexican dinner evening sounds like fun. I have to make some other kinds of enchiladas now. Do you have a recipe for chicken that you like to make or another one? I'd love to try it.

We aren't so much into foods like that around this neck of the woods...but having met Marc although he's not from the south I have acquired such a different taste and appetite to foods. Love it.

thank you for sharing your story and update.
have a lovely day
Judi

Thanks for sharing the video, Darlene. Don't you just thank your lucky stars stars you were spared the wrath of that horrible storm? To live so near that destruction!! Oh my, that was an awful one.

I am sorry about your computer--they have become a necessary evil! :) Hope it's up and running soon.

We had two tornados very close to us on Saturday. Not as strong as your tornado, it was an EF2 and an EF0. Not as much damage either and no deaths or injuries, praise the Lord! But as you know, it is a scary and sad thing for any town to go through.
The next day, we had snow, after it was in the 70s on Satuday, we got 6 inches of snow on Sunday. Weird! But we loved having the snow!

Oh Darlene, That is so sad! I am so glad you and your family are okay! Nancy

Hey Darlene,
About the book The Host:
I'm thinking the author of The Host tends to spend a lot of time character building... I think it will get better once we are through the first 15 chapters. So far everyone that has read it gave it rave reviews but that's probably because they made it through the first 10-15 Chapters!!!! :)
I'm just going to keep on keeping on and hold out hope that it turns out good! (It's no Twilight so far but who knows how things might change in a couple of chapters.)

Hi Darlene. I'm glad you like the little tin project. Yeah, this wind is brutal. Our cable guy was way up the ladder this morning and I was afraid I'd be calling 911 with this high wind. The weather sounds like we are in for it for a week--what fun. Hope the computer gets fixed FAST!

I got to chapter 5 last night and chapter 4 did add a "little" spice to the book with Jared coming into the picture. Is it Twilight? No. But I'm hoping it surprises me how much I'll end up liking it. Guess I need to read more tonight to catch up with you speedy reader!
:)
Have a great day!

Oh Darlene, that was a terrible tornado. I am so sorry for those poor families who have lost loved ones and their possessions and homes. I am not sure I want to see the video. Our town in Fl. had an F 4 tornado too, several years ago and the devastation was terrible. It is still so vivid in my mind.

I hope your computer will be up and running soon.

Darlene, as I watched that video I had tears streaming down my face. I LOVE "God of This City" and I LOVE Chris Tomlin (who was singing this version). We actually sang that song on our CD.

How appropriate it is for your city! Thank you so much for sharing that.

Praying the clean-up continues to be steady and life gets somewhat back to normal.

Man I am just now reading your blog to find out about the weather there. Tornados are one of my fears. I lived in Kansas and in Lawton, Oklahoma so I know all about them. We had some bad ones here in Georgia a few weeks ago...our county was under a warning and the sirens went off but we only got the hail at my house. I have always been afraid of tornados but now I am even afraid of lightning after marrying my husband who is a Weather Forecaster in the Air Force. Well I am glad you and your family are okay. I am sure going to remember you and your neighbors in my prayers!
