All the Leaves!!!!!!

I have to tell you that this is the time of year that I LOVE and I HATE! I LOVE spring and all the new growth coming up. I LOVE the warmer weather. I LOVE being able to open windows and all of the flowers starting to bloom everywhere. I LOVE living in this space! I HATE cleaning up all the leaves on our acre of land. We always wait until spring to clean them up because it seems that they fall from the trees forever!! All of a sudden the trees are starting to grow their new foliage and it is time to clean up the fallen leaves. Alan mowed over as many as he could. See all that dust.....we are also VERY dry here.
He had the mower moving so fast I almost missed him......lol
Here is a part of our acre. See all the trees? Believe me there are a ton more. You can also see in the fenced part of our yard (our land goes back to a small creek) all the leaves along the fence line that still need to be raked out.
Here is an up close view. A deep, thick pile of leaves along every inch, in every flowerbed, underneath the pool decking, underneath the patio...EVERYWHERE! Anyone, want to come over and have a raking party????
I have been told our guest should be here today or tomorrow. I can't wait for you all to meet her! Also, be careful today and don't get fooled!!!

I am excited to see who your guest is!!!!
I am happy that Spring is here too but do not like the allergies from all of the pollen and dust!
WE raked a TON of leaves in late Fall here and still have a few to rake here and there. I can drive down and help you rake anytime!!!
We worked in the flower beds yesterday trying to get them ready for new flowers... what a job!!!
Have a Blessed Day!!!

My goodness, what a lot of work. We pretty much have the leaf catching yard in our neighborhood. It will look really nice and you are so lucky to have such a nice and large yard. Can't wait for the visitor.

Hi Darlene...no thanks, I can't come to your leaf raking party because we're having our own...LOL.
The trees are worth the effort though aren't they? I can't wait to see who your mystery visitor will be... ;-) Bo

We need to have a party at my house too. We have about an acre as well, and it's fenced in too, so I know about the leaves that collect along the bottom. It's such an eye sore!Thankfully warmer weather is on its way!

Those leaves do tend to hang around don't they but the new green ones look so happy & cheerful.
Happy raking.

Hi Darlene! We just live in town on a regular lot but we have tons of oak trees. We rake constantly to try to stay on top of them. The leaves are finally completely off the oak trees! Woo hoo!

Maybe you should just pretend it's all a compost pile, and you're going green!

That is a lot of leaves!! I bet it always looks great when you are finished though. I can't wait to see who "she" is!

Yuk! I greatly dislike yard work.

Ohhhhh....sounds like our yard! We're so wet here, that the 'dry' you talk about sounds heavenly!! I can't wait to meet 'her'!

Yes, that's a lot of land to take care of, but you have TREES! Sitting in my naked (no trees) backyard, I think you are pretty lucky.

That's the only good thing about our not having trees on our land. Although it would be worth it I think.
Can't wait to meet your mystery guest.

Darlene,
That is so funny - it looks just like what went on at my house this weekend! I am lucky my 10-yr old loves to mow too!! We just run over as many leaves as we can with the mulching blade LOL!
I know what you mean about the season - I can do without cold mornings and sneezing - I'm ready for summer, all the way!
Have a great day!

I feel your leaf pain - no foolin'! We live on a couple of acres - mostly wooded - and all the leaves seem to fall into the fenced in area. Happy April!

You are 100% RIGHT !
For us too it is a SPRING clean...fall leaves are winter leaves, as well, those scoundrels! LOL

I love spring as well..I hate the whole idea of getting out there and getting all the flower beds ready. I love the look of the flowers after they are all planted and pretty but the digging and planting. Oy!

We used to have leaves but the only two trees we had in our yard were dying and we had to have them cut down. Now I miss raking all those piles of leaves!

Nancy said...

Darlene, It does look dry there! I'm sure the clean up is sooo worth the work! Blessings, nancy

Leaves!! When we first moved here 12 years ago there were no trees. No leaves, but also no shade. We planted maples after a few years and now---lots of leaves. I'm not sure which is better.

Love your big yard though. We have an itty-bitty yard.

I know what you mean about the leaves falling all winter. Our oak tree does the same thing. So our grass dies under the blanket of leaves that we should have at least mowed over!

Raking leaves is no fun...but it does burn calories! ☺ I have a love/hate relationship with springtime in Oklahoma...love the beauty, hate the pollen!

Hope you had a great day...and didn't get fooled! ☺

Oh, what beautiful property you live on! I know what you mean about the leaves...it is SO windy here right now and that means, well...you know. Time to grab a rake! :(

We have the same problem. Mostly in the front yard. Our back acre doesn't have trees. We have a riding lawnmower too, that sucks up the leaves. When we had our goats they would eat all the dried leaves...made it easier.
It is still cold here and supposed to rain this weekend, and possibly more snow. Yuck.

I don't envy you that. You should be happy that it's dry though, because there's nothing worse that wet, rotting leaves.
