We live on a corner lot and this is on the side of my home. It is very shady all along this wall. This was a small bed at the corner (the far right of the picture is the front driveway and yard) and had bulbs planted in it. They were there when we moved in 15 1/2 years ago and only occasionally do any bloom. Time for a change!
Here is beautiful Mama Kitty, ready to help.
I was working on it at 8:00 p.m. and I think it was STILL 90 degrees outside!
My face was getting quite red. Excuse my appearance but I don't try to impress anyone when I am working out in the yard. I dug up and loosened the dirt the best I could and then it was time for help.
Hubby had to come out and dig down deeper than I was able to. At the garden center they also recommended this soil conditioner. Boy, did it stink!
Here is what was planted. Nikko Blue hydrangeas. I sure hope they will grow and do fine. It is a shaded area and I will give them plenty of water as I have been told they like. I am hoping someday to have blooms like my friend Ramona.
It looks SOOOOOO much better. I am now ready to dig up and re-do the rest of the bed down that side of the house. Depending on how the hydrangeas do, I may plant more of those or some hostas. I am definitely inspired to get the bed in order. Also, the hydrangeas were on sale....YAY!! For the two hydrangeas and the soil conditioner I paid $26.80 so not a huge hit in the wallet if they don't do well.
Oh, you might notice a Texas stone in the front bed. Yep, I was born and raised in Houston, Texas so even though I have lived in Oklahoma a long time now I will always have that Texas love!!
