Never Ending Weeding....

Why does the grass ALWAYS want to grow where you don't want it?? After another little shower yesterday, my trusty helper was with me while I pulled out all of the grass and weeds from our front pavers.
Ahhhhh, much better all cleaned up.
It is hard to believe that in Southern Oklahoma, where we are usually dried up and everything is looking dead by now, that we have had rain at the end of July and several times already in August. The temperature for much of the day yesterday was about 75. LOVE it!!

We commented just yesterday how different everything looks. All green and lush instead of brown and dry. We had .7 inches of rain yesterday. We took AJ to the movies in Sherman and when we came out and got in the car, it was 68 degrees!! We couldn't believe it for 1 pm in August in OK!! Is Lexi ready to start school? AJ is excited to start middle school. Jack is super excited to start pre-K. Ryne doesn't have to start until Sept. but he loves scool.

Good Morning Miz Darlene,
We had a thunderstorm late yesterday afternoon at our house but the rain was brief. My yard still has that brown twinge to it you know? Every picture you've shown of your yard this summer has been beautiful, so green and pretty! Enjoy the break from the heat, I'm totally envious of 75 degrees!!! I can tell you it was well over 90 degrees up in my attic yesterday while I was diggin for yard sale items *smiles*

Yes, this rain is wonderful...seeing a green yard at this time of year just adds an accent to the flower beds.

True fact, bermuda grass grows better in a flower bed or between pavers than in the yard.

Weeds! Ack! Hate em. Yes, the weather has been nice here, too! Love that.:) Lori

If you are like me, I am tired of weeding and watering by this time of year. In the spring and early summer I always enjoy it, but it becomes a chore by now.

Dear Miz Darlene, I agree! Indy bug & Midnight could be twins! Indy bug has moments of complete lunatic wild kitty terror where he runs at warp factor 8 thru the house jumping on everything interspersed with sublime lovey dovey can't get enough of you love me pet me hold me love the kittyfest. Does Midnight do that? I would have to agree with you though that our rescued Indy bug is the most loving & sweet kitty we've ever had when he's not being an unholy fur streak! And he's gotten a little belly too!

Hasn't it been just awesome? I don't know for sure how much rain we got yesterday but it might have been 2 inches! It's a beautiful August - we are very lucky.

This has been the craziest summer weather we've ever seen too. And I agree - weeds can grow anywhere!

Well you know I would gladly have given you 1/2 of our rain this summer. I know you certainly have had the heat!
I'm glad you've had a break in your hot weather....
the walkway looks so good and your kitty is inspecting!
have a super day

Hi Darlene
In England 75 is hot! Glad you are enjoying some 'cooler' weather and getting some jobs done around the house. I am sure your garden is enjoying it!

75 degrees is my favorite temp. It's very satisfying when a weeding job is complete...looks great! It is raining here today and it looks like November outside!

That sounds like "normal" Seattle weather. We are having that this week but it's been a wacky summer the rest of the time here!

I always nag Johnny to spray Round-up, but he doesn't like to use it. So he pulls, but he doesn't get the roots!

My weeds do the same thing..wink.

You're cooler than WE are in KC!! I need to trim plants....many are way too big now and it seems I just cut them back not too long ago. I guess it's all of the wonderful rain we've had here this summer. Hope you've had a great Wed. Dana

Crap...don't do this kind of stuff and then tell us about it...it makes me feel REALLY guilty when I look at my own yard!

*chuckle* Hubby and I were just talking about the same thing, Darlene- how grass never grows where you want it to but ALWAYS where you don't!!
