Todays Thrifty Treasures.....

I didn't actually GO yard saling this past weekend but was going to have a yard sale, so I thought I would go ahead and link up. Be sure to visit Rhoda at Southern Hospitality and see all the wonderful bargains everyone found this past week. We had several homes on our street that were going to have a sale (because it is always better when there are several in one area). I am always HEAVY on Lexi's outgrown clothes, shoes, and accessories since I am a shopaholic with her stuff. On Friday, I started getting everything out and hanging them and started having friends and friends of friends (that have girls and know what all I sell) stop by my garage. Don't ya LOVE this huge clothing rack that my hubby built? Anyway, by the end of Friday I had already sold approx. $489.00 worth of stuff. I kept kidding around saying I didn't even HAVE to drag anything out cause I had already made some great money.
Saturday morning comes along and guess what? It is raining away! Next door to me and across the street from me went ahead with theirs (in garages) but mine needs to be pulled out of my garage so I told them I was going to pass and they could send me people they knew, because if you are a hard core yard saler you will STILL be out!! I continued with marking my items and pulling things out of boxes. At the end of the day, I ended up with a total of $705.00!!!!!!!!! Can you even believe that?!?! Also, next Saturday we are again going to do a garage/yard sale with several more families from the street joining in. Sooooo, if you think they are too much work or not worth it.....think again!!! I'll let you know a final grand total next Monday.

That is awesome! It gives me hope that my garage sale will be moderately successful. I won't have any clothes but I have been gathering things from everywhere in the house to sell.....I am so hopeful that it all sells. Last resort, take the dregs to our nearest Goodwill...LOL

That is a lot of money for a yard sale that didn't happen. I hope you match that amount and more next weekend!

Lots of money made in this sale...what exciting things are you going to purchase now? Probably new school items for Lexi will be at the top of the list.

Enjoy your week...stay cool in spite of the hot temps the weathermen are predicting.

Congrats. You just keep going in the face of the setbacks and it sure paid off. And you will have another opportunity next weekend. Isn't that great?

That is some awesome money! I have TONS of outgrown clothes from both girls that I need to sale, but after thinking about it, I don't think I have anything else to put in a yard sale. I wanted to have one, but I didn't think anybody would stop for the clothes. Gonna rethink this idea.

Ramona said...

Wow, wow, wow! Totally worth it! I only make about 100 dollars when we do it...$705!!!...I would hold a sale every weekend! I need to do the same here...I love the rack.

Congrats!

Dang, that's some serious change. I've never had a garage sale because I hate the accumulation process. I purge regularly and take my stuff to the thrift store. I should do this though. Dang!

I would say that you definitely had a SUCCESSFUL yard sale. Good for you. I am ready to hit some sales myself.

Wow Darlene! That is amazing! Good for you! I wish I lived closer because you always have Lexi dressed so cute and my Allison is just as thin as she is but younger. I could have gotten all of her school shopping done!

What a haul Darlene! Good for you. I've never made that much either, never mind in the rain!

Wow that's great - I only made $50 in my sale this weekend but unfortunately I live out in the middle of nowhere.

Karen said...

That is amazing! I NEVER make that much, never. I usually make $200. People want things for nothing so I gave some away, the nicer things. Sold some at resale, made a whole $13 there. I wish I was your neighbor, I am always buying things for Natalie too. Many of the things I saved for her are a little dated and she hasn't worn them. My sale is in a few weeks:)

Shelia said...

EVening, Darlene! Man, you did good on your garage sale! Now, have your decided how you're going to treat your tiny self? :) Thanks for popping in to visit! I've missed you!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

Darlene, I love your yard sale story and I am so happy for your financial success. Hurray!!! You go girl. I always hesitate to have a yard sale because of so much work. I better rethink it huh? I am waiting to hear the grand total. Big smile.

Hugs...Jeanne
PS: I'm scrolling down to your post about your mom.

Wow you did great Darlene. We do not have yard sales in the UK we have car boot sales instead. People fill their cars with stuff and drive to a place such as a school field usually early on a Sunday morning. They then sell their stuff out of the back of the car or from a small table. Yard sales sound so much more fun. Good luck with next Saturday. Wish I could join you.

That is amazing!! If I could make that kind of money having a yard sale, I would sure do it. I don't have enough good stuff to sell.
My daughter sells clothes that her girls have outgrown also...and really does good at it.
Congrats. Now are you going to take the money and buy Lexi new clothes? lol
