Update on Lexi....

Update Thursday: Lexi still had temp. Wednesday afternoon, so no school on Thursday....she is NOT happy about that!
Well, first off we have been playing a LOT of this game. She loves it! I found out a couple of the main symptoms of H1N1 are headache and low grade temperature, so yesterday when she again had 99.7 I decided she needed to go in to the Doctor. They did the nasal swab and it came up negative, but since there has been a large percentage of false readings when flu is actually there, (and she has the symptoms) they put her on Tamiflu. She also popped up yesterday morning with a flimy sounding cough so she has cough syrup too. If we can get the fever kicked the Doctor has given us a note that she can go back to school on Thursday. The biggest upset for Lexi was that she had to miss their last cross country meet yesterday afternoon. It had been re-scheduled from a rain out and here she is now sick and can't run. The funny thing was that yesterday morning she was pretty sure she could run the race. NO Lexi you can't. She found out she definitely was not up to par though after the long Dr.'s office wait and then going to get her prescriptions (about 3 hours all total).

I'm so sorry Lexi is sick. I know how disappointing it must be to want something so bad and not be able to do it. Hope she is better soon...

XO,

Sheila :-)

Poor Lexi. I hope she gets better really fast. It is no fun. I had chills with mine. Hope she doesn't have them. Good luck.

Poor girl in missing the last "run". Here is hoping the medicine and all does the trick and she can return to school on Thursday.

So sorry she's feeling yucky. At least she's looking good in those zebra pj's - my daughter would love them.
Feel better soon.

I hope Lexi will be better soon. The flu is a real downer to someone like her who loves school & all her activities.

Sorry to hear Lexi has this crud. I am just getting over H1N1 and it was not fun at all. It sounds just like how mine started out. The Tamiflu will help the flu go away quicker, but it might mess with her tummy. Make sure she eats when she takes it or it might rip it up a little.

Take care!
Jamie

Good Morning ~

I have been up since 2:30 with our older daughter who is sick too. She may be 25...but still my baby. I am sending some virtual chicken soup to Lexi...so sorry to hear that she is still under the weather. I hope she feels better soon. It is scary when our children are sick...thank goodness we live in an era of good medicine.

Get well soon Lexi and stay well Darlene.

It is definitely frustrating to miss something due to illness. Especially if you were so looking forward to it. I remember that game! Used to play it with my kids. Awww, now I am missing those days when the kids were young. But I am leaving soon to go and visit them. Yay!!

Get lots of rest and get well Lexi.

I'm so sorry Lexi is not feeling well. I love hearing about her determination though, thinking about running a race and winning even with the flu... that's my kind of girl!

Hope she's on the mend and back to school really soon.

My 13 year old granddaughter had the same symptoms as Lexi, only a little higher fever and bad bad headache. She tested positive for type A influenza (they said it wasn't the swine flu) and was put on tamiflu. Then right as she was getting over that, she got strep throat and had to go on antibiotics. She got over it pretty quick though.
Hope Lexi is feeling better soon.

Hi Darlene,

I'm so glad to hear that the doctor STILL gave her Tamiflu with a negative reading. I was just talking to one of my best friends that works in the hospital and SO MANY tests are coming up negative not just once but twice!

Keep us updated on how well she is doing~

Awww hope she feels better soon! Alex just got over the flu and he is left with a terrible cough that keeps him up at night. But since he is soo young the doctor won't do anything about it! They took cough and cold medicines of the market last year for toddlers. I did find a natural honey based cough syrup that seemed to work last night! Hope Lexi is feeling better soon and it's soo great that you keep her busy by playing board games! Have a great night!

I'm sorry that Lexi isn't well. I played basketball in high school and remember how awful it was to have to miss a game. Hope she gets all the rest and relaxation her body needs to recuperate. I know it is hard when you are that age.

Aleta said...

It has to be frustrating - to know the symptoms are there, but not able to KNOW for certain, therefore, making it more difficult to treat. I hope she feels better quickly.

That stuff is serious flu; some people seem to have mild symptoms while others are really laid flat. My friend's grown son took a couple of weeks to recover from it.

Keep that child home, safe and sound until she's well.

Ohhh, sad news over here. I hate it when the kiddos get sick. It must be extra hard on Lexi, who is usually SO active. I'll be praying for her.
Take care,

Hi Darlene. Poor little Lexi! I'm so sorry to hear she's still sick. It's a good thing you took her to the doctor though. You just never know about that stupid ole flu! Poor little thing - I feel sorry for her having to miss her race but she's where she needs to be.
Thanks for popping in to see me, Darlene, I always appreciate you so much!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia :)

Yikes! I hope she feels better soon. My youngest had a temp of 103 last week. I've never been so nervous over a high temp before. Thankfully he was over it quickly.
