Our Thanksgiving Recap....

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day and hope you all did too. We did something a bit different this year. We prepped all our food on Wednesday, covered it and put it in the refrigerator. Then on Thursday, all we had to do was pull out the food and cook it in the oven. My Mom took the things that cooked at one temp. to her home (just a few doors down) and I cooked the rest. It worked out wonderfully. Here is Lexi (with Mom in the background) making the bread crumbs for our stuffing. Lexi helped prepare all of our Thanksgiving Day dishes. She had a lot of fun working in the kitchen with us and did a great job.
Stirring up the broccoli, rice casserole.
This was my table centerpiece.
Look at all this food for the five of us! We had turkey and dressing, broccoli and rice casserole, sweet potatoes with marshmallows, corn casserole, watergate salad, cinnamon apple cranberry sauce (a new recipe for us that I'll post later this week), rolls, pumpkin pie and pecan pie. We have eaten left-overs every day!

We ate (the first time) around 2:00 p.m. and after the clean-up it was time for one of Lexi's favorite games......spoons.
We are supposed to have a cold front coming in today with some rain. Hopefully, hubby can get the rest of our lights up on the house before it gets here. Have a great day.♥

Hey girl! Your Thanksgiving looks like it was fun. :)

The cold front just came through here. It's dark and looks like it's about to rain.

Hi there Darlene ~

Your pictures are making me miss Thanksgiving. It looks like you guys had a wonderful day...and a game of spoons is the best way to top off a great meal....which, by the way, looked delicious.

Have a great rest of the weekend. Christmas will be here before we know it...ho, ho!

Looks like a lot of fun! I love that Lexi likes helping in the kitchen. I used to love to bake when I was her age... actually I still do.

I have never played "spoons" when it didn't involve drinking so that really made me LOL, somehow I doubt Lexi plays it as a drinking game. ha ha! I guess I went to degenerate college because I never even realized it was a regular game. duh.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

My sister & I did the same thing Wed. evening! It was her idea, why I didn't think of it before I'll never know. Anyway, it made Thanksgiving day so relaxing. I'll do it again for any big meal in the future.

It's so great that you got Lexi to help with the food prep. What a wonderful way to teach her to cook!

Hugs,
Carol

Hello beautiful...

It looks like you had a wonderful time. We had a small Thanksgiving at my house this year. Just 5 and a half (Noelle) of us here. But we cooked like our normal 20 people were going to show up!

I can't wait to hear how you make your yummy cranberry sauce with apples!

Have a blessed day dear friend,

Robin~♥

Lots of food - but wasn't it all wonderful tasting...some things are just tradional so they must be served whether there 2 or 20 people in attendance.

Cold front is here with the rain...so glad I did my outside stuff (most anyway) yesterday.

I love prepping my food the day before. It's so nice to be able to relax and enjoy the day with everyone else. I did about half the day before this year, so the day wasn't stressful at all. It looks like you had a great day.

First of all, I have to say, I LOVE SPOONS! : )

It looks like y'all had a great day. I miss making all that food. We have made it a tradition to go down to Momma's town and just eat at a hotel so that no one has to cook or clean. I REFUSE to do that on Christmas, cooking and cleaning or not! : )
