Christmas Parade.....

Lexi is all excited because we are on the way to the Christmas Parade. It was a clear, COLD day. When the parade started at 11:00 a.m. it was just below freezing with a 15 - 20 mile an hour wind.....BRRRRRR!!!!
I was bundled up pretty well, but my nose was freezing! I moved my wrap, around my neck up over my nose.....ahhhh, much better!
The path they walk is about 1 1/2 miles long. They alternate walking and jumping the whole way. In the picture Lexi is to the left of the person carrying the sign, jumping. We are toward the end of the route, because we have to get our child when they are through walking. You can see, even in the cold, her sleeves pushed up because she had gotten hot with all the jumping.
Right behind the Jump-n-Jive team you can barely see the next sign of the Show Choir. Lexi is in that too, but had to pick a team to walk with. She always chooses Jump-n-Jive. It is her favorite!
Lexi is in the front at the left of this picture.
People always enjoy seeing the Jump-n-Jive team.
Sadly, this is the last year Lexi will be on the team, as they only have it through the 5th grade. She has been on it for four years (she made it the first year she was eligible to try out) and I will sure miss watching her perform. But, next year she will move up to the Middle School where they have other things to try out for. We will see what she wants to do next.

Cold but looked like the sunshine was out in full force...yet Oklahoma wind can be mighty cold.

I imagine Lexi did get warm with all that movement going on.

Marilyn said...

Wow, that wind was vicious Sat. I know it will be sad that Lexi is no longer able to be in the Jump and Jive. She sure has had fun with it. Stay warm!!

That looks like fun and what a neat experience for four years. Girl you just wait! Once they hit middle school...well, you just think you've been busy!

How fun! I used to love doing the parades when I danced - you don't really notice the cold too much.
Glad you had a good weekend.

Cold brr! Our parade was this weekend too but someone around here thinks its a good idea to have it at night too cold for my blood!

BTW your town looks a lot like my town :)

That was wonderful, Darlene! But how on earth did she keep from freezing? It makes me cold just thinking about it!

Lexi looks cold to me but I bundle up if it's below 50 degrees.

I love your new haircut and hair color. You look great!

Hi Darlene,
Now that looked cold and I thought of Lexi and those young girls in short sleeved shirts and I got the goosebumps! I guess when you are young and on the move its not that cold. But then I thought back to my youth, if you looked good, it was never cold!
What nice memories for Lexi and you.
Hugs, Ann

I can't believe Lexi wasn't all bundled up! My girls are the same way! I'm sure she's going to find her niche in middle school...and she will SHINE!

That is really cold, we are dealing with that here too (so much for global warming) I am having a heck of a time keeping my hummingbird feeders from freezing! I so wish they would fly south for the winter but NO they insist on staying around!

I look foward to see what Lexi picks next year! She is so cute!

It amazes me how much this child does. And seems happy doing it all! We missed our parade Saturday because we had too much other stuff going on. : ( But our children's ministry had a float that one first place! Woo hoo! : )

What fun! I've never been to a Christmas Parade...I don't think I've heard of any around here. Wooooo- just looking at you all bundled up made me shiver...but that Lexi doesn't seem to mind one bit! :)

Hope you're having a great Mon...I just returned from having breakfast with my friends and grocery shopping. The store was FULL of folks "stocking up" as they're predicting a very bad snowy day tomorrow for us. I really hope they're wrong...again!

Hey Darlene! How sweet. This is great she got to be in the parade! I love it. I can't believe they didn't have coats on. I'm always wrapped up like a burrito and hubby usually has a sweatshirt on in the snow....brrrrr! Big smile. Oh well. You looked adorable!

Look how cute Lexi is! Just darling! And I think Jump and Jive sounds a lot more fun than choir. LOL!

So glad you didn't freeze to death, Darlene, and that you all had fun. I love a good parade!

I'm sure that she'll miss it because it's become such a big part in her life.

Hi Darlene
Glad you managed to brave the cold to see Lexi take part in the parade for the last time. She looks lke she's really enjoying it. Lexi must be so excited about the other groups she can join at Middle School but at the same time she must be sad to have to leave the jump and jive. Do they need any helpers to help with the little ones? I am sure Lexi would be a great helper/teacher.

How did you get Mama cat from neighbors ? .. how did Tangie and little pup take all of that in with another cat ? .. I too have watched the first Twilight movie and got a little hooked .. I haven't seen the second one yet ..
Wow .. that was cold for you guys there .. and now Lexi is moving on to middle school next year .. life is speeding up for you there girl !

Hi Darlene, Lexi must be one very coordinated child to walk and jump! I'm impressed! :) I bet that is so neat to watch! She is in the same grade as David.

Our local Christmas parade was Sunday afternoon. It was chilly here, too!

Hope ya'll are enjoying the Christmas season so far! ~hugs, Rhonda :)

What fun! Lexi looks like she is having the best time. We had our Christmas parade this past weekend too & have stood in the same spot for 25 years (hard to believe).

Good morning Darlene. Finally some time on my computer today. The parade was fun I am sure. You made me feel cold just looking at you all bundled up. Actually it is very cold here too. And then there is pretty Lexi, jumping and jiving down the parade path. I would love to see that. We missed our small town parade because they always have it Thanksgiving weekend.

Anyway we had a wonderful time with our daughter and laughing at CC and the big dogs. Too bad Tucker isn't in a photo, he weighs over 100 lbs.
They were so gentle playing with CC. Instinct I guess.

Have a wonderful day today.

Hugs, xoxo, Jeanne
