I am quite upset this morning as my computer won't do a THING! I'm not sure when we will get it fixed so I will be on here as I can with my hubby's laptop and my work computer. I had planned on joining Nancy's Flaunt your Red party today and if anyone wants to join just go here and link up.
Robin of The Robin's Nestis starting an online book club. The first book is The Host by Stephenie Meyer. I enjoyed her Twilight series tremendously, so I am excited to read this book and I bought mine yesterday. If you would like to join in on the book club go here and sign up. We will start reading in March and she will have more details as she works them out. Hope you all are having a great Thursday.
I decided to join today because last weekend my parents were in town and one afternoon my Mom and I went to my favorite little Antique/Thrift store. This caught my eye instantly. It is a beautiful terrarium that is quite large measuring approx. 16 inches wide by 18 inches tall and 12 inches deep. The price was $25.00, I LOVE it and the cats can't get to the real plant growing inside.
I received my Wisteria order on Friday...super fast shipping. I found out that they are in the Dallas, Texas area though, so not too far from me. I ordered three things. This is the small bird cloche. The medium bird cloche.....by the way, I LOVE these! Also, the set of three small mercury glass birds. I gave my mom one of the birds and I kept two of them. I have also been given some awards and I want to thank Jackie at Embracing My Blessings for the Lemonade Award. Thanks so much Jackie. I also want to thank Ruth Ann at My Remodeled Nestand Carol at Carol's Heirloom Collection for the Sisterhood Award. Thank you both for this beautiful award. If any of you don't have these awards and would like them, please feel free to take them. I hope you all are having a fabulous Monday.
I received my Wisteria catalog yesterday and I am instantly in LOVE! Look at the bird cloches and the mercury glass birds. I have already lost my battle to not order anything. You will just have to wait and see what I ordered. If you would like to order anything you can get 15% off of an online order by using code SALE2009. This offer ends 2/28/09.
I have been asked by several of you how Midnight is doing. She is doing great and getting big. She has now been spayed and declawed, has healed and back to her kitten ways. She is now approximately 6 months old. The TV amuses her and she watches it intently (she is sitting on our coffee table). This is a "boingy" toy that my mom gave Midnight for Christmas. She enjoys playing with it and occasionally we catch Tangie batting it around too. She LOVES getting under and sleeping under blankets. I wonder if she had ever felt a soft blanket on that cold, cold night when we found her? Midnight and Lucy are the best of friends. They play hard! At times I feel like I am going to pull my hair out with them racing around and jumping all around on things. After all the playing they are almost always curled up somewhere together for a nap. Midnight also loves sitting in this magazine basket. Just the other day I heard some rustling around and went to see what she was in to......this is what I found. She also still gives Tangie grief. Tangie is not the friendliest cat anyway and we weren't sure what she was going to do with the kitten. She mostly just ignores her unless Midnight jumps on her or is in her space as in this picture. I guarantee Tangie is growling at her. Midnight has definitely gotten into all of our hearts. She loves to lay in our laps and purrs away. Even with her wild kitten antics she is definitely a keeper!
Are you wondering about the title? Well, the good was that on Saturday, with only a 30% chance of rain.....it poured most of the day. You would think with the tornado that roared through we would have been drenched, and many areas were, but right here we only had a light rain. It barely got the ground wet! We had been under a strict burn ban and it was so, so dry we absolutely needed the downpour. The bad was that with all the clean-up effort going on that it poured down rain! That means with all the demolished homes, the volunteers that were sifting through rubble trying to find anything the homeowners might want to keep, now stopped, and with all the rain any photos or salvageable things are now ruined. That is just so sad. The exciting was that all of a sudden, while we were just chilling and watching TV, Lexi yelled horses!!!!! There were two of them running down the street and into the yard of our neighbors across the street. In the next instant we saw this cowboy on his horse chasing them. Also, a bunch of vehicles pulled up. It took quite a while and we could see the horses running back and forth but finally, victory! Here are all the people coming back. Oh, and see that turbine (underneath the basketball goal), that is the storm shelter we were in during the tornado. Here are the runaways being led to their horse trailer. It was so cold and raining away!
Here they are getting ready to load them up.
Just another exciting day in the neighborhood! Oh, and I'm not going to post any more pictures of the tornado damage but if anyone is interested in seeing more, just e-mail me. I now have a bunch of them. It truly is unbelievable!
Our power came back on yesterday afternoon...YAY! I want to thank all of you for your concern and prayers for us and everyone in the area. I was exhausted from being up most of the night. Hopefully, I'll get to visit most of you today. Lexi is again out of school today. We found out that 9 people were killed, none of them were children. I drove down one road where a lot of damage was done and sorry for the poor pictures but I was trying to drive and snap a few. This is all the news media set up. There also were helicopters overhead all day long. We were approximately 3/4 mile away from much of the devastation. They were marking the big red X when a pile of rubble had been searched.
This is a picture of all the people helping. This is in the Lone Grove High School parking lot and was the command center.
Hey everyone.....just wanted to let you know I may be absent for a bit. A tornado hit hard in our area last night. We are fine and were in a storm shelter across the street from our home. No damage to our home but there have been fatalities and they expect many more with the daylight. I am at my office and don't know when power will be restored in my area as many power lines and trees are down. Here is the article and what I know about it at this time. Please keep everyone in this area of Oklahoma in your prayers during this difficult time.
I wanted to show you what I won from Bella at Bella Casa News. I was so excited when she said I won because there were over 200 entries! Here are the goodies. First, the card is absolutely adorable....I have it displayed on top of my hutch. Also, there was a spatula, chocolate candy heart, cinnamon jelly hearts, a Valentine sack, and she included a heart she says I can decorate. I have not done anything with it yet but I will show you when I do. Also included was a fruit roll-up to Lexi from her son, Robert. The fruit roll-up actually had his name on it. Lexi says THANK YOU! Last but not least is a fabulous apron. Guess what.....I have never had an apron and I LOVE it!!!!!! Isn't it pretty? I am hoping it will help make me become a great cook! Well, we can always wish can't we?!? Anyway, thank you so much Bella for having this great giveaway and then drawing my name. Be sure to go visit her at this blog for great tips, coupons, savings and all kinds of neat stuff!
On Saturday night Lexi's jump roping team "Jump n Jive" had a halftime performance during the women's basketball game at Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Oklahoma. We videoed her doing her famous "rump bump". Listen to the crowd and the announcer. We have been to many performances and we always feel the same way! Enjoy!
I covered another little box the other day. It says "And they lived happily ever after." I also used three little glittered hearts in a homemade nest, since there are three in our family. I love covering these boxes. Now for what you are waiting on.....the winner. I used a random number generator this time and my winner is Paula from The Fraker Farm. If you have never visited Paula you must go meet her and Belle. They are delightful!
Thank you all for entering my giveaway. Hope you all have a great weekend.
*I am getting ready to draw so no more entries please. I thought I would have a little giveaway, just because! I just want you all to know how much I appreciate each and every comment and the on-line friends I have made through blogging. This is a great Discover Dinnertime cookbook and a bling heart. One entry per person and I will draw a name on Thursday night and post the winner on Friday morning. Good luck to everyone.♥
You all know Wendy of The Shabby Nestand she makes the most adorable pixies. I tried my hand at them this weekend. They were really fun and I know I will make more. These were hard to capture how cute they are in my photos. Her camera does much better with it.
I changed this one from the apothecary jar to a cloche....she shows up much better.
Hope you all have a great Monday and come back tomorrow to enter the cookbook giveaway. Oops, I accidently hit publish post and it is Sunday night. This should have been my scheduled Monday post.
As usual I am behind on my awards, tags and meme's. I want to catch up today! I also want to sincerely thank everyone that has passed an award to me and I hope you will go visit them. I really appreciate all the bloggy love. The first one is a 6th picture meme from Joanne at This Southern Girl's Nest. I am on a different computer than usual so this is my 6th picture. It is one we had taken at Walmart of Lexi when she was in the 1st grade. Where are her teeth??? This next award is the Friendship award from Jody at Jody's Cottage. Thanks so much!
