Picnik, Final Christmas, Misc., and Recipes....

Added at 1:00 p.m. I am watching it rain outside and I see snow flurries mixed in. It is very wet and not sticking because we are at about 38*, but as of about 1:40 p.m. it is all snow falling. This is the 4th snowfall in December 2009 and what a beautiful end to 2009!
On my final post for 2009, I have several things to share. First, Michelle from The Yellow House started talking about Picnik and showing her photographs and saying how fun and easy this site was. Well, I had to go check it out and I definitely agree. I never had a clue how people made collages and added those little extras. Now I kind of feel like a pro....hehehe. Thanks so much, Michelle! This collage is of some of our Christmas gifts.

Lexi finally got to ride her scooter in a garage next to where I work. The building is not rented out right now and I have a door that opens into it. The ground is still wet and the snow melting so she still can't ride outside. There is no electricity on in this building so she had to bundle up. Fun, FUN!!
LOVE this picture of my Mom, myself and Lexi.....three generations!
This was Mama Kitty's first trip outside (on the driveway) into the snow after it all fell. She had been in her warm beds and cozy spots inside our garage. She didn't know what to think of it and kept going right back into the garage.

The snow was deep and beautiful all over our ordinary outdoor stuff!

We ate and ate all the usual food for Christmas dinner, but by Sunday I was ready for something different, so hubby and I made this.....The Best Lasagna. Ever. by The Pioneer Woman. My parents and brother were still here and we all agreed it IS the best lasagna ever!!!!

As we close out the year, I will be trying this recipe. We always eat black-eyed peas on New Year's Day for good luck and this soup looks delicious. Hope you all have a wonderful New Year's Eve. Be careful if you go out anywhere. We will just be chillin', probably watching movies and I'll be trying my best to stay awake and see the New Year in!!!!!
I look forward to blogging with all of you in 2010.♥

It is Snowing AGAIN and What Santa Brought...

It is hard to believe but 5 days after our Christmas Eve blizzard, this is what it still looks like. A lot of snow has melted but there is STILL a long way to go and do you see what it is doing again??? SNOWING!!!! We are only supposed to get about an inch but it will probably be really icy tomorrow morning. Glad I don't have to be anywhere early!
Santa was very good to Lexi and brought her what she had asked for. Her look says it all! She got a Bella Razor electric scooter, a new net for her trampoline, a small laptop (that will be monitored closely), helmet and some booties.
She always has fun getting into her stocking too. She had some candy (of course!!), Twilight bookmark and necklace, Bananagrams (game), candy cane pens, a book called Eleven, and this nail file that says I ♥ Snow.
It is hard to believe that we are zooming right along to the New Year. Lexi has started basketball practice and is excited to be playing again this year (she hasn't been on a basketball league for the past two years). It is a bit rough so we will see how she does with it this year.

A White Christmas Eve (Recap)

What an exciting Christmas Eve! First, my parents cooked us a fabulous brunch. This is at their Oklahoma home. The table is temporary until they actually move here. It is one of our outdoor table and chairs but it works for now.
The menu was Baked Ham, Baked Apples, Hashbrown Casserole, Sausage Leek Casserole and Biscuits with cinnamon honey butter. It was delicious!
These are the baked apples.....delicious!

We had some fun with their peeking Santa.
Here is our Christmas picture. From left to right.....my hubby Alan, Lexi, Me, my Mom (Charlotte) with her two poodles Sasi and Prissy, my Dad (Cecil) and my brother Randall (in from Florida...he thinks he is freezing and says he could care less if he ever sees snow again).
As I told you in my last post we were under a blizzard warning. It sleeted all morning and then started snowing....HARD.....it almost looked foggy because it was coming down so hard. Alan and Lexi were walking to the mailbox.
Our snow angel.
A peek on Christmas morning. We ended up with about 6 1/2 to 7 inches of snow in our area. It was BEAUTIFUL and our first white Christmas! Lexi desperately wanted to build a snowman but the snow was so powdery it wouldn't stick together, so she built one on the ground. Too much fun!
We still have snow. It is melting slowly, but each night ices over again making it VERY slippery in the morning. The temperatures are supposed to drop again tomorrow with the possibility of a wintery mix. We will see....... Hope you all are having a great Monday. It is hard to believe Christmas is already over.♥

A Blizzard Warning and Merry Christmas!!!

At 5:00 p.m. we have 6 inches of snow and it is STILL coming down.
At 4:00 p.m. we have 3 inches of snow and it is still coming down hard.
I added these two top photos in at about 2:45 p.m. Christmas Eve. The snow is starting to fall more than the sleet and it is quickly covering everything. We are going to have a WHITE Christmas in Southern Oklahoma!!!!!

Hi everyone!!! We have had a Christmas Eve brunch. My parents did a fantastic job and I'll share the menu at a later date.
A bit of posing in front of their tree.
YIKES.....Carter is our county. Do you see what it says???? A BLIZZARD WARNING!!!!!!!!
It has been pouring sleet and we are expected to get anywhere from 2" to 8" of snow in our area. Bring it on!!!!!!
Hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and Santa brings you everything you want!♥

Creations for the Second Mini Society.....

I decided to link our Mini Society projects to Kimba's DIY Day at A Soft Place to Land.
I wanted to share with you what we made for Lexi's Mini Society. Just what is a Mini Society? Go here and see. We made beaded bracelets, salt dough ornaments and Christmas locker magnets.

I first saw salt dough ornaments on Cathy's blog called Cobblestone Farms here, she has the recipe on her side bar. These ornaments are thinner than the ones she makes, and we baked ours about an hour and 20 minutes.
Sorry for this bad picture. We made snowflakes and Christmas trees from cookie cutters and they turned out great. It was fun and we will definitely do this again.

Here is an up-close shot of some of the beaded bracelets.
Our Christmas locker/refrigerator magnets.

Lexi also made a little video. Hope your Monday is great! Lexi is now out of school for the next two weeks. I'll try to visit all of you as I can.♥

Our Outdoor Lights.....

I wanted to share our outdoor lights with you. Hubby does a great job each year putting them up. Hope you enjoy. This first picture is on our front porch.

Today is Lexi's last day of school for two weeks. She is quite excited! It is also a play day with their Christmas party, Pajama Day and another Mini Society. I'll show you on Monday what all we made for this Mini Society. Have a great weekend.♥

Pretty Tulle Wrapped Gifts......

I wanted to share with you how I wrapped some pretty teacher gifts. First, I found these beautiful candles at JC Penney marked from $14.00 each to $5.99 and I had a $10.00 off your purchase coupon. I only needed three, but I got an extra for that person you "forgot"....oops! Anyway, these are for Lexi's two dance teachers and her theater group teacher. I purchased the tulle at Hobby Lobby. It is on sale this week for .77 per yard and I think it makes a beautiful wrap. We just attached a tag in the ribbon.
Next we needed a cheap, easy gift for 10 teachers at school. Yep, Lexi loves all the teachers! We did a snowman mug, hot chocolate, marshmallows and candy canes. Added some shred........
............ and used red tulle. It looks so pretty and anyone would love getting this cute little gift.

Hope you are all having a great Wednesday and getting all of your Christmas shopping done.♥

My Christmas Living Room area.....

I am linking up with The Nester today for the Christmas Tour of Holiday Homes. I am sharing my living room area, and beware there are lots of pictures. I keep seeing posts that say people are decorating more simply this year or putting out less. Not me!!!!! I have a lot of decorations, and I have fun using them during this time of year. I love seeing everything all lit up. It just looks so magical. Grab a cookie and let's start the tour.

This is our mantle.

My bench at the front door entry.
Above a cabinet that holds all of our movies. Santa is watching you......

On top of our computer desk.

A sofa table moved by this half wall for Christmas time. I like it here....it may stay.

Top of my old little hutch in the living room. My glittered snowmen and church.

Here is the top of the Christmas tree. Our camera has a hard time taking a pretty picture of it. In person, it looks beautiful.

It is funny looking at the picture because I see bare spots in the tree. Our young cat, Midnight, has knocked or pulled so many ornaments off the bottom area, that each time I hang them back, I hang them higher and higher. At least only one has been broken so far.......

I hope you enjoyed my tour of my Christmas living room. Glad you stopped by and hope you are having a wonderful and magical day.♥
