I'm Still Here / Basketball 6th Grade.......

Hi everyone......it's ME....do you remember me???  Thank you so much for all of your e-mails and comments hoping everything is alright.  Everything is fine.  I knew when I got Facebook that I would have a hard time keeping my blog up and I have.  I am vowing to do better and at least post once a week.  I have missed you all very much and I definitely want to keep up with all of you again.

Lexi started basketball.  She is number 10 and in the second game got hurt.  A much bigger girl fell on her and bent her wrist backwards. The Dr. thought it was a hairline fracture, but thankfully when the radiologist read it there wasn't one.  She missed two games with a sprain and now is playing again and loving it.  She is a starter and in most of the game, only getting taken out to catch her breath.  Remember you can click on the collage to enlarge the pictures.
She also has a new boyfriend.....lol.  Ryan broke up with her but his best friend was waiting in line....hahaha.  He truly is a sweetheart compared to the other one and they are doing great.  They have now been "going out" (you know that is the term they use) for 6 weeks.  He is on the boys basketball team and made sure he got the same number as Lexi so he is also number 10.....awwwwww!

My parents are in town and we are getting ready to prep our Thanksgiving meal tomorrow, so Thursday all we will have to do is cook everything.   Again, thank you all so much for checking on our family.  I hope to be around to visit you soon.♥

This week at school has been a fun week.  It is Red Ribbon week or Say No to Drugs!!  The theme was different each day.  Monday was hat/cap day.  Tuesday was crazy sock day.  Wednesday was camo day.  Thursday was black/white (school colors) day.

And today, Friday is pajama day.  It is always a fun week for the kids with a GREAT message!  They also received bonus points (they are allowed to use on any grade) for participating.
Also see what we watched last night.........oh yeah, It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown.  LOVE it!!!
Hope you all have a fun and safe Halloween!!!!♥  BOO!!!

To Dinner and then the Haunted House.....

We had a great time with some friends on Friday night.  First, we went out to eat at Santa Fe Steakhouse.  This longhorn is out front and of course, the girls had to get their picture on it.
Next, it was what they had been waiting for.......the haunted house.
It was sooooo funny because the lady (below left) knew us so she was saying......come on in Lexi we won't hurt you. FREAKED Lexi out.....lol.  Soooooo, she and Addie were screaming and running around just on the porch.  Next thing we know the camo/skeleton guy was standing there staring at the girls.  At that point, I didn't know if they would even go IN the haunted house.
The four "girls" decided to go on in.  Lexi and Addie wouldn't even have gone in if we wouldn't have gone with them.
They made it through with a LOT of screaming.  Also, the guy in the camo/skeleton mask was the one that chased them out of the house with the chainsaw roaring.......    The instant they heard that chainsaw start up they were outta there!!!!!!!!!
Such a fun night with friends!!!!!♥

(Amended) Wednesday Miscellaney.....

(My parents were in town last weekend and Sunday night I decided to try this (well, a different one it had a cajun seasoning packet in it).  It is delicious!!!  I got it from Wal-mart.
Very easy.  You soak the beans overnight, change the water and simmer the beans for 2 1/2 hours.  Then you saute onion and garlic along with sausage or kielbasa (optional).  Add that along with a can of diced tomatoes or stewed tomatoes, seasoning packet and lemon and simmer for about 30 more minutes.  YUM!!!  We also had plenty to have leftovers which always seem to taste even better!
What we have been or are up to:
  • High School football games
  • OU Saturday dance class
  • 6th Grade football games
  • Birthday Parties (seems like a LOT of Lexi's friends are turning 12 right now)
  • Fall Break will be Thursday and Friday
  • A friend is spending the night with Lexi on Thursday
  • On Friday, dinner with friends and then a haunted house
  • AND the big news of TODAY........Lexi made the 6th grade girls basketball team.....WOOHOO!!!!!!!
I probably should add that this is in addition to the "normal" happenings for each week.  Lexi has dance 2 nights a week (4 hours total), Broadway Kids (her theater/singing group) 1 night a week and voice lessons 1 night a week!!!!!!!
She also just got her 1st 9 weeks report card today and made one  B and the rest A's.  Way to go Lexi!!!!!!♥

Hope you are all having a great day and some beautiful Fall weather.♥

FrightFest at Frontier City......

On Saturday we took Lexi and #11- Ryan, to Frontier City (in Oklahoma City) for FrightFest.  They have the park totally decorated for Halloween.  We had GORGEOUS weather and we all had a wonderful time.  We got there when the park opened at noon and left just before it closed at 11:00 p.m.  You can click on any of these pictures to enlarge.
Fun times and along with all of the rides, they also went through a haunted house that was there.
You can see on their faces how much fun they had!
We are still having the most PERFECT weather.  Hope you all are enjoying your day.♥

Lexi's shirt says Kickin' it with My Friends and that is just what they were doing!
We have been having the MOST gorgeous weather!!!  Crisp, cool and beautiful!

Weight Loss Update......

I have now lost 35 pounds and I don't EVER want to find it again!!!  Also, I don't think I told you but hubby Alan is on the weight loss journey with me.  He has lost 25 pounds and is working on building some muscle (not losing any more weight).  We both feel FABULOUS!!
This was on Friday night before the high school football game.  Our team lost, BADLY, but we still have fun going to the games and watching Lexi and all her friends make memories.
We got a cool front in yesterday, and boy the weather is WONDERFUL!!!  Crisp and cool......exactly how I LOVE it!!♥

Teeth Pulled and #11.......

Yesterday, Lexi had to go to the dentist and get her last three stubborn baby teeth pulled.  Her permanent teeth were coming up under these and the teeth just wouldn't get loose.  I love the sticker they gave her (remember you can click to enlarge the collage), it says Ny Nouth Nis Afleep!  She was so worried and it all went just fine.  She is SOOOO glad THAT is over!  Oh, and see that necklace.....it is from #11....she also has on earrings (you can see them in the next picture) that he gave her.
Several of you have asked in comments and e-mails to see #11.  Here he is.  This is after one of the 6th grade football games.  Awwww, aren't they cute!
Hope you are all having a wonderful day.  We are supposed to get a small cool front by this Sunday....YAY!!!

A Fun, Busy Weekend.....

We had a busy, busy yet fun weekend.  Friday night was our High School homecoming game.  Lexi and I wore our homecoming tees.

Hubby Alan went with us too.  He doesn't usually go to many of the high school games with us.  The great thing is WE WON!!!!  Yay, that always makes homecoming much better!
On Saturday, Lexi had her first OU dance class and she enjoyed it.  Then we rushed back home to see a bit of the 6th grade football game.  Her boyfriend is #11.  Yep, Lexi has a boyfriend....lol.  Our poor 6th grade team can't seem to win a football game though.  Better luck next week.

Then on Sunday Lexi went to the movies with #11 and they saw Alpha and Omega 3D.  She loved it.  It is an animated tale of two wolves trying to find their way home to their pack after being kidnapped.

Poster art for "Alpha and Omega 3D"
Today though, all the fun is over and it is back to school!  Hope you all are enjoying your Monday.♥

Lexi's Newest Adventure in Dance......

Last year Lexi's dance teacher wanted her to try out for an intensive young dancers ballet class at the University of Oklahoma or OU as it is known in Oklahoma.  She had already committed to cheerleading and couldn't do it, as the games she would cheer at were the same time.  This year her teacher asked her early, and Lexi had to make the decision to try-out or cheer.  She decided to try-out for the dance class.
Here are a couple of pictures right outside the Fine Arts Studio where the auditions were held.  Of course, she didn't have on her ballet shoes yet.
This is a beautiful mural inside the building.
Well, yesterday we got the e-mail she was waiting on.  She made the class!!!  She is very excited for this Fall dance class at OU.  Congratulations, Lexi!!

We Went to the Final Jump-n-Jive Performance.....

Last night we went to the final performance that Lexi will have with the Jump-n-Jive team.  They always perform for the Annual Elks Lodge Spaghetti Dinner.   Normally after the last performance in 5th grade the girls are through and they don't come back the next year for the dinner (to perform).  This year though, there were so many strong performers that moved to 6th grade, the coach had them come back and perform one final time.
On stage getting ready to jump.
These are all the girls that are now 6th graders.  Only two of them have been on the team from the first time they tried out.  It is Lexi (second from left on the bottom row) and "A" the girl second from right on the bottom row.  These two also did many rope jumping tricks together and were really fun to watch.  I'm sad to see it end but I know new fun things await.
And.......you ALWAYS have to have a fun, goofy picture!
Hope you are enjoying your Friday.♥

Getting the Remains of Tropical Storm Hermine......

After a beautiful weekend and Labor Day, last night we started getting rain.  Today, it has been raining REALLY hard all day long.  There have been weather reports of flooding, heavy thunderstorms and even areas closed due to deep water, and it is not stopping.
We did definitely need rain and I guess we are getting it.  We are in a high area that won't flood but you can see how much water is going through our backyard.
Oh, and I have a new addiction.......Facebook.  I resisted as long as I could, but finally I now have a Facebook account.  If you are on Facebook and want to "friend" me there, just drop me an e-mail with your name the  FB page is under and I'll send you a friend request.  Hope you are all having a wonderful hump day!!!♥

It Was A Gorgeous Day......

yesterday.  We can only water on odd/even days (depends on your house number) and yesterday I put the sprinkler on.
The big, fat Robins all LOVED bathing in the sprinkler and I had fun watching them.
I haven't shown you our back patio in a while so I thought I would share it again.  It is about 12 feet wide by 50 feet long.  With our cooler mornings I have been out here reading a lot.  I love to sit out here and read and watch the birds.
I stood in the middle and took a picture one way then the other way.  LOVE it!
Thank you all for your kind comments about my weight loss.  Hope you all are having a GREAT Tuesday.♥

My Weight Loss So Far.....

Well, I thought I would share a picture of how I am shaping up....lol.  I have now been on my exercise and calorie counting program since July 7th and I have lost 27 pounds.  I am 5'9" tall and right now I weigh 153 pounds.  I am feeling stronger, GREAT overall and am really enjoying wearing some "old" smaller clothes as well as some new ones.
When I started my weight loss I was wearing XL in tops and  I was squeezed into size 12 capris/shorts and was getting ready to have to buy 14's.  I went shopping the other day and bought a couple of tops (this is one) size Med. and my new capris are Levis 515 in size 8, and they are not tight AT ALL!!!!!!  WOOHOO!
I am still working on a few more pounds and besides still walking, targeting specific areas as my legs, upper arms and belly.  Hope you all have a wonderful Labor Day weekend.♥

Tasty Tuna Casserole.....

Here is another recipe we tried from the Taste of Home Cookbook.  I'm finding some of the pasta recipes to be a bit bland for our taste.  This one was pretty good as it was, but for leftovers I will use what hubby always uses on his pasta.......Picante sauce (salsa).  Two tablespoons only adds 10 more calories to this dish.  The serving size is 1 1/2 cups so it is a large, filling serving.

Lexi thinks she did well on her Science test yesterday.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed.  I was quite proud of her though in Reading/Writing.  This is the test (they will take on Friday) where we are studying all the parts of a book/story.  The teacher asked if anyone thought they knew all of the answers and Lexi was the only one to raise her hand.  She then went up to the front of the class and the teacher said each definition and Lexi had to say the word.  She got ALL of them right and the teacher gave her a pass to use on any daily assignment where she would not have to do the page, but would make an automatic 100.  YAY....way to go Lexi!!!!!♥

Just How Much Can Kids Memorize????

Well, Lexi was ready to start school but I think she may have changed her mind now.  At this point she has three tests this week, and who knows what other teacher may decide they need to test.  One today in Science (this is her not-happy studying face) and she has to memorize two pages front and back.
On Friday, she also has a test in Reading/Writing.  A list of definitions from stories, example:  plot, setting, exposition, climax, historical fiction  and many more.  Also, on Friday she has a spelling test.  She also has to have 150 minutes of reading each week (after school) and on Friday it is checked and they get a pass or fail.  I am ALREADY finding all of the studying (with Lexi) to be a bit challenging.
Hope you are all having a great week.  You know what we will be doing tonight.......studying and reading!!!!!

Just Keeping it Real......

I hate it when certain areas just end up becoming the "dumping" station!  This is on the bar and everything seems to get put there.  Obviously I haven't been keeping the clutter off and this is the result.  Time to change it!!!
Ahhhhh, so much better.  No, the piles didn't just get moved somewhere else.  They were put up, filed or thrown away.  It just feels so much better when everything is in its' place.
Hope you are all having a great Monday.♥

I'll Take This......

I'm gonna enjoy it while it lasts!

This is Lexi and her friend on the way home from the waterpark a couple of weeks ago.  We stopped at Cracker Barrel to eat.  The girls wanted some sweets, so with gummy worms and a lollipop.....this is what you get!!!
Friends having too much fun!!
