Soup Review, Midnight and Some Wii Fun....

I hope everyone is doing well after all of the holidays. I was asked about my Black Eyed Pea Soup and my review is that it is a keeper. I didn't have jalapeno black eyed peas and didn't put the jalapenos in my soup, but next time I will. We could have used more "bite" in it. It definitely needs to be made and refrigerated and served one to two days later for the flavors to blend. Can you tell I am still loving Picnik? You don't have to download anything and it is a lot of fun to play around with. Don't be scared, go and try it!
In the midst of taking down all of the Christmas decorations and cleaning everything, Midnight found her mouse!!! She is one happy kitty and has been playing away. She especially loves to put it under the trashcan and then try to get it back out. Too cute!

Also, this has been the look around the house since Christmas. Wii playing!! They are playing Super Mario Bros. and we also got Wii Sports Resort. I recommend both of them....they are fun! (Remember, you can click on any picture to enlarge)

Today we are back in the normal grove of things. Lexi went back to school and we are back on our non-holiday schedule. All of the Christmas decorations have been taken down and I feel calm and collected once again. Enjoy your Monday.♥

That soup sounds great. I need to make a batch to keep for that cold weather coming. Thanks for the recipe and the review. I like Picnik I've been using livewriter and it seems easier to me but Picnik has SO many more features. I will practice!! Midnight is just adorable. I guess she is making it through this cold weather? Nicky is miserable. He likes to check out his yard but being older he doesn't like the cold. So, he sleeps and sleeps. I bet the Wii is FUN!! I'd love to have one but then I figure 2 old people don't need it--the sugarplums need it. Well, we are in for some awful weather!! My birthday is going to be the worst day of the week if the weathermen get it right. Oh well, January birthdays are like that. Thanks again for the recipe review. Enjoy 'getting back to normal'.

Awww your Midnight is so cute - you are right looks like my Zorro- LOL ! It amazes me the things these critters do to have "fun" - sometimes I think they do it to make US laugh !
We have a WII too - don't have the games mentioned ...have to put them on our list ! We got the Band Star and my 15 year old and friends are having a blast !
I am ready for "normal" I still have about 7 more trips of stuff to put away - ugh !
Megan starts school tomorrow ..
Happy New Year !

You are ahead of me in getting the decorations down and put away...but I am starting today.

I played Wii for the first time on Friday...tried some bowling and the race track driving...not very good at either - but can see it would be fun.

Midnight is such a pretty cat...and I am sure with a personality all his own.

Stay warm this week.

My Oliver just loves those furry mice--we have a whole collection around the house. He brings them for me to fetch just like a dog.

I know what you mean about the calm feeling of having Christmas put away and everything back to normal. That's how it feels here too!

Oh, this is the perfect weather here for soup, and I love trying out new recipes! This will definitely be on my list of "to-makes"!

And I must say, that I will also be checking out "Picnik"~ it looks so fun!

Isn't it hard going back to normal after a couple of weeks "off"? I must confess, however, that I am remembering now how quiet the house was with the kids in school, and enjoying the peace! Now it is time to think about Valentines Day! But first I need to clean our messy little house! I hope you are having a wonderful day, Darlene! :)

I love the way you are displaying your pictures. They look great. I'll have to bookmark the site.

I still have to take my Christmas decorations down in my kitchen and then I'll be done. I did pack away all of my December things in my classroom today. Tomorrow morning I put up the January things!

Tim got a Wii last year and I have never played it! (It's in his room.)

take care,
Dawn

Dear Darlene, I LOVE your snow header. It is beautiful and cold.It is very late so this will be short. I napped early in the evening and I can't believe I am up this late. Cheri' will be up at 5:00AM. After we take her out she gets in bed with us. We then sleep a bit later.

I am glad Midnight found her toy mouse. We just set traps for a real mouse. Midnight we need you. HA!

The wii game is, fun my grands have it. An amazing form of entertainment.

If you think doing a colage is easy I must try it. I am so wanting to do it. Your Christmas collage is great.

Oops! I am busted. Bill just came out with a look that tells me I must say goodnight.

We got the Super Mario Bros for Christmas too and the kids love it. I'd like that Resort one, is it worth it? The kids have gotten bored with the regular sports game. And I still haven't cracked open my Active, yikes. Need to do that soon. More great pictures, you are having a lot of sucess with picnik, yay! :)

Hello Darlene, we caught our mouse last night. Tell midnight she can stay home for now. I just got in bed when I heard the trap. The poor little thing. I went to sleep feeling so sad. However, CC had discovered her as she ventured out from behind the cabinet and she wouldn't stop looking for that mouse. I hope there isn't two of them.

I'm glad you liked my rug. I smile every time I look at it. Yes, I was very fast with my number.

I need to do my post for tomorrow so I will say goodnight.

Hugs, Jeanne

My friend and I were recently discussing about the prevalence of technology in our day to day lives. Reading this post makes me think back to that debate we had, and just how inseparable from electronics we have all become.

I don't mean this in a bad way, of course! Societal concerns aside... I just hope that as the price of memory drops, the possibility of downloading our brains onto a digital medium becomes a true reality. It's one of the things I really wish I could experience in my lifetime.
