Bratty Squirrel......

I was wondering why my bird feeder was on the ground several afternoons when I looked out the window.  Now I know.............

We moved the pole further away from the tree, and so far, I think it has worked!  Hope you all are enjoying your Wednesday.♥

Darlene squirrels are the most clever and annoying creatures. We have had lots of problems with them emptying our feeders and dragging them around no matter what we do to secure them. I've decided I'm a fan of those electric feeders that spin around and fling the squirrels off as soon as the jump onto them!

Oh those squirrels love the sunflower seeds...we just give up and scatter the food on the ground...that way the squirrels, big birds, and the small birds can all eat together in peace.

Those pesky squirrels are something else. You sure got some good pictures though. Love that feeder.

They are industrious little hoodlums! Last year, I had pumpkins on the steps for fall... the little vermin destroyed them! LOL... but, they are cute. =)

We used to battle those little thieves all the time at our other house. My son would actually head out with his bb gun (he could never actually hit any of them but he had fun trying). I'm glad we don't have them here.
Cute pictures though.

That's what they do at our house too. They hang upside down from the pole and blow with the wind! I think I can safely tell you (because we've tried everything) that they will get the food no matter what. We buy 40 lb. bags of sunflower seeds at Lowe's and it's pretty cheap. We just don't worry about it. :)

Caught red handed! How cute.

Hi Darlene
He is such a cheeky chappy!
Our squirrels are very well behaved here!! There is a small woodland in the middle of the circle of houses where we live and they rarely leave there and cross the road to the houses. It maybe because of all the cats aroud here.
Hope your plan works. Cute pictures.

Squirrels are too darn smart!

Carol said...

When we lived on Lake Keystone the squirrels ate more bird seed than the birds. They are smart little creatures!!

Not only bratty but kind of smart too. I actually quite like squirrels but I guess you don't want him stealing your bird food right? Cute pictures, thanks for sharing, I'm going to share with The Son.

lol, they drive me crazy too! i have to put vaseline all the way up the pole from the ground up so they can't climb it.

We have tons of squirrels and couldn't keep them away from our bird feeders so decided to feed them too with corn. They love it and we enjoy watching them and the birds through our kitchen window while they enjoy the all you can eat buffet!!!

Good Morning Darlene!
I have heard that in other parts of the country, squirrels are pests.
We usually only see them in the mountains, and then we think they are so cute.
But, remember my little friend that was living in the woodpile and eating all the 'girls' food ? So, glad he's gone!
Hope you're doing something fun today :) I'm pulling weeds - oh yippee!

What a naughty little squirrel! I found your blog over at Kerin's. I love that you post menu's. I always dred 4:00 when I don't have any IDEA what to fix. I am a Twilight fan too. I can't wait for June 30th! Happy Anniversary to you. Ours was the 19. Have a great day!!!

Hi Darlene, squirrels are very annoying. Also very cute. They can jump such a long distance. We have even had a raccoon on our 20 ft high deck. He tried to eat some fake eggs in a bird nest decor and pooped on our outdoor rug. LOL I love to feed the birds but we made a decision not to feed them on our deck this year. We will feed the humming birds. In fact, soon. If we put something up in the yard the bears will come. I do not want bears in our yard at all.Feeding the birds here is a problem. Have a great day. Your squirrel pics are really good. Little devil!!!

Hugs, Jeanne

Hi Darlene,
This one CRACKED me up!!! I'm so glad you "caught him in the act" for our viewing pleasure today. Hee-hee!
I'm dying to share a little story with you and Lexi now that I just read about her Platinum Award. When I was in the 8th grade I tried out for the Cheer-leading Squad. There were four women judges. Well, I fell after one of my jumps at the end of a cheer, but for some reason I just jumped right up and went into the next cheer. As I'm sure you can guess, I made it on the Squad. I always felt it was because I didn't loose my confidence, just like Lexi did the other night.
Congratulations, Lexi. You look absolutely STUNNING in those photos holding your award. All your hard work paid off.
Love,
Mary Lou

Good morning Darlene, I forgot to mention anything about your parents coming. I know so well how much that means to you. When my parents would come to visit I would be soooo happy. I would clean like crazy, plan some fun and cook my best meals. It was an event. I can only imagine how wonderful it will be when they retire close by. I hope it is soon.

Enjoy Spring and our warmer days.
Hugs, Jeanne

Hi Darlene! Oh, that little stinker! Squirrels are so cute but they are very distructive! They are stubborn too. :)
Oh, if you're ever coming to Houston, let me know! I would love to meet you too!

Good Morning Darlene!
Ok... I confess, we did eat the whole cake, lickety-split! I was proud of myself though; I had one small piece, and let the men polish off the rest :)
From now on, I guess I should make it in a half batch in a 8 x 8 pan!
Yucko on the female check-up. They are never fun!
Hope you have a fantastic weekend with your loved ones! Maybe you can make them some banana cake (wink-wink):)

Oh, I know about bratty squirrels. One nearly jumped on my head the other day in St. Augustine! LOL!

Hey, you! I'm just checking in to see what y'all have been up to. I miss everyone. I'm buried five feet deep under workmen in St. A., and I finally dug myself out to take a mental health break. I have to go back, though, later this morning. They are slated to arrive around 11:00.

Hope all is well with you and Miss Lexi and that she is about finished up with school for the year. Do you have exciting plans for the summer? My plans are to figure out how to get these workmen finished and gone! LOL! I'm thankful, though, for them as they are getting the job done. I will explain more when I get back, but it has been a comedy of errors. At least I can laugh about it now.

Have a great weekend, Darlene...

XO,

Sheila :-)

That squirrel looks like it is having the time of its life. The only good thing about it being at your bird feeder is that it isn't in your house!

Don't count on it!!! Those squirrels are tricky little suckers!!!! Once I had these beautiful huge blooms on the bush outside my home. I wondered why I would find the blooms littered on the ground. Then one day, I saw the squirrel. He looked at me, looked at the bloom, snagged the bloom and took off running!!

Hi there!
It sounds like you guys are going to have quite a fun afternoon! Take pictures to share.
It does crack me up to see how upset folks get when they get stuck behind tractors :) I too LOVE living in the country!! You couldn't pay me enough to live back in the city. I like to visit once in a while... but I always like coming home to the quiet and peaceful country more. In fact... in a few more years , we may be looking for a home that's even MORE in the country :)
Catch up with you later.

Squirrels love to eat bird food so much that people sometimes quit trying to feed the birds.
