LOOK what hubby did.......

I have decided (after seeing so many of your BEAUTIFUL gardens) I really want to plant some blooming plants and more Knock Out roses and after whining talking about digging up a couple of beds, Alan rented a tiller and did it!  This is in front of the garage.
Hubby working away tilling then putting the edging around it.  I was out there pulling up the clumps of weeds and grass and filling up the wheelbarrow.
Look at it now!!  WOOHOO.  I want it filled NOW but it will take a while, planting as I can afford it. I also need to amend the soil with some compost and richer planting soil. It is also a FULL sun bed so lots of water.  Our temperatures here in the summer get really hot so I have to water a couple of times a day.

My other bed I wanted is in the backyard in front of this fence.
This bed gets sun in the morning, then turns to mottled sunlight (as you can tell from these pictures), then shade in the hot afternoon sun.
Look at it now!!  What fun I am going to have filling both of them up.  I'll definitely show you pictures along the way.
Hope you are all having a great Thursday.♥

I know you're going to have a great time planning and planting those beds Darlene. Rototillers are just the best thing for getting the soil turned over fast. I love knockout roses--they'll do really well in your sunny flower bed.

Good Morning!
What a wonderful treat! Your husband sure loves you a bunch :)
Hard work, but so rewarding!
It will be gorgeous when you get planting! Consider herbs also. They are ornamental, and useful too!
Have a happy day :)

That is some HARD work! I don't think there is much else that can brighten an area like plants... but, they are a lot of work to tend. And, oh so worth it! Can't wait to see what you plant!

Hi, Darlene!

That's one sweet hubby to do that for you, and I can't wait to see what you plant. :-)

I'm going to have to replant our front beds this weekend because it's about time for the pansy season to be over. They hate heat, and we're starting to get some very warm days.

Have been MIA lately and still have much on the agenda, but I decided to jump back into the blogging pool because I missed y'all.

Hope you have a nice day, too!

XO,

Sheila :-)

Darlene, it's so worth the work. We love our yard so much. It's truly an extension of our home.

Knock out roses are a great choice. Can you believe how pretty they are this year? Everywhere you go they are blooming like crazy. I love them!

What a perfect place for a flower bed! One of those ornamental grasses would look nice right in the center. They love sun - get nice and full and even look good in the fall. Of course, colorful flowers and knock out roses will look pretty too!

The good thing about gardening on the hot hot prairie is that a lot of plants that call for "FULL sun" actually like a little dappled shade when gardening in a really hot climate. I've learned that the hard way. Your beds are looking good, can't wait to see them progress through the summer.

Those beds are going to be fun to plant! Those Knockout Roses are really the best most trouble free roses I've ever grown!
