Raccoon Babies and Mama ~ Critter City.....

We have had a Mama raccoon coming over from the field looking for food and water.  Mama Kitty is only fed in the garage (with the door closed) but her big water bowl is outside.  Yesterday was the first time the coon brought ALL her babies with her.  She has five of them.  They had come up on our porch and started to get a little too close to Mama Kitty.  Alan grabbed the camera and went out.  The Mama and three babies went up one tree and two other babies went up another one.  Eventually, they all came down and went back across the street.  That is Mama watching over everything.  It never ends around here with the critters.....lol.♥

How cute!! I love any baby animal but baby raccoons are just so cute. I bet it is fun to watch them and their antics. I wonder if they will come again?

I know a lady that feeds them so they won't get into the garbage. The mom and 7 babies comes each evening. She feeds them dry dog food---even the babies. Enjoy.

I love it...wonderful pictures of them...are you starting a zoo...racoons and the turtle - what is next?

I just love to see animals. It makes me feel good to know that they find a way to thrive inspite of our taking away their habitats.

Good morning Darlene, you do have critters that's for sure. Was that Lexi talking on the video? smile. The raccoons are so cute but so bad to have around. We had one that was stealing the hummingbird food and eating fake eggs in a fake birds nest. HA! Not to mention leaving poop on our deck. Yuck. I hope your critters do not include a snake like Lorrie shared on one of her posts. Yikes!!!

Have a wonderful day.
Hugs, Jeanne

Oh, Darlene! How cute! I don't think I've ever seen baby coos! Aren't they precious. I know raccoons can cause a lot of damage, but they are adorable.
Hope all is going well.
Be a sweetie,,

Raccoons are the cutest....especially the babies!! My pal Bonnie has about 5 "wild" cats that she has fed for year. She has to time when she feeds the cats, cuz the coons gobble up the food before the cats can eat it! :) They are pretty smart that way.

Are you having nice weather like we are in KC? We've had such a great string of days with wonderful temps. We have had rain..but not flooding issues...and we were needing some. Seems like there's too much..or not enough! :)

Hope all is well with you and yours!! L, Dana

Well, you won't believe this, but two days ago, one of the kitty visitors to my front porch was eating some food I leave out for the strays. After she ate, she laid on the front porch looking at my cat through the window. All of a sudden a big raccoon walked between the cat and the window and went straight for the bowl and started to eat!

They are cute but kind of naughty too...they used to get right into our dog food barrel and they'd knock bottles of juice off the garage shelves! Good luck with yours :D

Darlene, they are SO cute, but be very, very careful around them. Mama raccoons are very protective of their babies and will attack if they feel threatened.

Someone in Florida was trying to shoo them off of her patio with a broom, and she was attacked by them and had to go to the hospital. I can't blame the poor raccoons for turning on her, but they were all over her patio! Also they carry rabies. Do I sound like a worry wart? All my life I have found them adorable until this problem in a neighborhood near my best friend's house down in Central Florida. Now, everyone is gunshy.

XO,

Sheila

Darlene, they are precious but I know as wild animals, they can be very dangerous. My Mom and Dad fed them for years---cat food and scraps. Until one day, they noticed a horrible smell coming from their bathroom. They tried all kinds of things to get rid of the smell. Finally they got a handyman to come. He went under the house and one of those raccoons had crawled through their flooring and up under their bathtub where he got stuck and died. It was so sad-and really gross......They no longer feed them. In fact, Dad sets a live trap-without bait-and catches them to release back into the timber---away from his house. I know it isn't humane but they are getting older and can't have another major project like that. He has to have my B-I-L come over and move them away with his truck because the raccoons poop in the trap which is wire and then he has to clean raccoon poop out of his trunk! Funny but not so much. just be careful. They are wild animals. ★ Linda ★

Wow, it's amazing how brazen those raccoons are! I think I'd be a little scared but I'm scared of most critters!

They are kinda cute though!

Hi Darlene
Your place is awfully critter busy. Racoons are sooo cute aren't they. That is a pretty big family and responsibility for that mama coon. Poor kitty....

I'll watch the video tomorrow from work because its faster.

I'm loving watching all the wild "pets" you have!
have a great week..

Happy Friday Darlene ~

Wild kingdom! Raccoons are excellent mothers. We had a mother and her babies living under our house and Animal Control told us to leave them alone until they moved away.

I hope that you summer is going well. Have a great weekend.

Hi Darlene, thanks for stopping by today. We do love making and eating the jam. Not to mention the pies.

I'm glad you are not having a heat wave like most of the country. Here it is in the mid eighties and in the 60's at night. If we drive into town it is a different story. Much hotter.

I have wondered if the raccoon family visited again. Smile.

Have a wonderful weekend.
Love ya, Jeanne

Hi Darlene, thank you for your sweet comment as always. Today is Garden Club day and it is pouring rain. We need the rain so that is a good thing.

We had a squirrel on our deck yesterday. I'm sure he was after the bird seed. We have a new holder and it is not close to the railing anymore. I will have to post it. We love it because it keeps the bird seed from making a mess on our deck. I bought it at a garden club meeting where the program was all about this guy who makes things for the garden etc. out of iron.

My garden is loving the rain.

Enjoy your day.
Love, Jeanne

Wow Darlene, isn't it fun having Wild Kingdom right in your own backyard. Those babies are so cute. I'm surprised they were all out in broad daylight. The raccoons in our area wait til dark to make their rounds.

I came by to see if the raccoons had kidnapped you, Darlene! You haven't posted in a few days, and I was getting worried. ;-)

They ARE cute! I never saw them up close before we moved here. One time we too saw a mom and her babies...they were trying to walk on our backyard fence. The babies couldn't balance on the fence very well and one by one, the babies fell off the fence. It was really funny looking!

I hope you are doing well! :)

Wow, you have a animal preserve in your own yard. They look so cute, though I have heard that they are destructive. How fun to watch though.
