This past weekend it was time to perform High School Musical 2 Jr. and there were four performances. This is the third summer play that Lexi has been in and she had a blast. She was a "Sharpette" which is one of Sharpays (the rich, spoiled girl) clique. In the final dress rehearsal we were allowed to video the songs, but they said we were not allowed to publish it on YouTube, Facebook or anywhere or the company could get sued. I hate that because the songs were great and the dancing so CUTE. Anyway, this was "What Time Is It". Lexi is in the black shorts and she and another cheerleader did a back handspring across the stage after the song.
These are a few of the scenes with the Sharpettes. In the first picture Lexi had air kissed Sharpay (played by the girl in pink) and announced "Now that you are here the summer can start"!!!!
These are the Sharpettes doing one of the dances. There were 8 of them and 3 of them had lines. Lexi had the most lines :) or actions of this group. Here they were singing "You Are The Music In Me".
I videoed most of this called Humu Humu. I will be getting some other pictures from the professional photographer that I will share with you later. This was a "rehearsal" of a song that they were practicing for the summer talent show that is part of the play. Everyone LOVED this because it was such an animated and fun song!
Another scene where the Sharpettes were out with Sharpay. They were out on stage quite a bit through the play.
Singing the finale song "All For One".
Sharpettes curtain call (taking a bow).
The play was so GREAT and they had fabulous directors. A lot of hard work, but there are a lot of talented kids in this town. Lexi will start rehearsals for another summer play called Let's Make a Musical on July 12th. This is a play where the kids will actually work with a (different) director and write an original play, then perform in it. This is the first time Lexi will do this play. We have gone to this play the past two summers and the plays have been wonderful. I look forward to what they come up with for this one.
We, or rather Lucy (our poodle), found the first backyard turtle of the summer, the other day. We always have to move them out of the fenced portion of our yard or Lucy just goes nuts and can't leave it alone. Lexi had to pose with it.
Also, when I walked out onto the back porch a few days ago, there was a bunch of fluttering around and two baby birds were trying to learn to fly. At dark, one finally landed on the canopy of our swing. It eventually moved to the bottom rail and slept there all night long like it was in a hammock. The last I saw of the other baby, it made it to the fence. The baby bird that was on the canopy was still sleeping there when I let the dogs out (to do their business) at 4:00 a.m. Came back in and we all went back to sleep, and when I checked at 7:00 a.m. it was gone. YAY, the baby bird got its' strength back and flew away.
Also, Stacey at Poofing the Pillows shared this Lemon Cream Pie recipe and OH MY WORD, it is DELICIOUS!! I have had this a long time ago and forgotten about it. It is now in my tried and true recipe book. Grandpa loved it too! Thanks so much Stacey!!!
First off, I want to thank all of you for the sweet birthday wishes. You all are just the BEST!! I'm linking up again with Ms. Green Thumb Jean for Bloomin' Tuesday.
I have to show you my birthday present. Remember the backyard bed my hubby dug for me here? Well, he did most of the work in helping me get it planted for this year. I have been watching for some hydrangeas to go on sale, and they did! We planted four Forever & Ever Hydrangeas and mulched the whole bed.
I LOVE it and hope these new hydrangeas do as well my other two I planted last year are. Now, we just need to work on the grass....lol
Here is a close-up of one of the Forever & Ever Hydrangeas. It is blooming out everywhere. Also, these are supposed to be repeat bloomers and say they bloom on old and new wood.
My Moss Rose has come back up in three pots and finally the first one has bloomed! Can't wait to see many more of these colorful blooms.
Out front, in my rose bed, the two Spartan Rose bushes are going crazy.
What a gorgeous salmon color.
Hope you are all enjoying a bloomin' Tuesday wherever you are.♥
Lexi and I stopped by a yard sale down the street on Saturday morning and these were the goodies I thought I "needed"....lol
These little luncheon plates and cups are so pretty with the grape motif. There were six plates and cups for $5.00. Lexi can't wait to have her lunch on them. Maybe today.
A large picnic basket. I am probably going to put it on top of my china cabinet and use it for storage. It was $1.00.
Last, this beautiful hardcover book. It is Lee Bailey's Southern Food & Plantation Houses. I just flipped through the pages so far and it looks like their are some beautiful pictures. Can't wait to see what recipes are in it. This was $3.00.
I'm really trying to be picky about what I am buying at yard sales because I really don't "need" anything. I am keeping my eyes open for things I can use in the yard or flowerbeds.♥
My Garden Party Roses are going crazy and they smell so wonderful!
My new bed of (mostly) Knock Out Roses are doing great. They are growing away.
My hydrangea bushes are getting HUGE this year. I planted two small plants toward the end of summer last year and prayed I could keep them alive in the hottest part of the year. I feel like I can almost see them getting bigger day by day. Many of the big blooms are underneath the large leaves. Hopefully, by next year they will be blooming and showing on top of the leaves.
I'm like a proud Mama with all my tomatoes. These are supposed to be Cherry Tomatoes but seem to be getting bigger than that.
These are Romas planted in a Topsy Turvy planter.
Oh, and I know she isn't bloomin'....lol. But, sweet Mama Kitty is just trying to keep cool on the porch.
Hope you are all having a wonderful, bloomin' day!!!!♥
Well, I have fallen off the cooking wagon. My menu Mondays are going to be gone for a while, because we have mainly been grilling and/or just eating lighter since it has been so hot and Lexi has been out of school. I will still let you know when I try a new recipe (if we like it). This is the last new recipe I made.
